But why would you want your image to look close to film? The Monochrom cameras have their own unique rendering, which I like a lot. If I want to take an image that looks like film, I take my M6.

Still waiting to know more about its performance with old (pre asph) lenses and more info on its output VS the M9M (as a lot of users who bought the first cmos based typ146 seem to have returned to the M9M for the quality of its files and closeness to actual B&W film rendering). Very interested in the new MM though as I shoot color on film and wanna shoot B&W on digital with my vintage lenses :)

Thank you, glad you enjoy my photos. The M10M seems to be my dream camera so it is a no brainer for me. I love the look of the M9M files but, because 95% of the photos I make are candids (and usually quite close to the subject) the M9M's loud shutter is a big issue for me. Also, Jono's comment "My feeling is that the new camera is much less prone to blown highlights" is very encouraging, when shooting candids of people on the street setting the camera for a perfect exposure is not always feasible due to time constraints, so a camera that's a bit more forgiving (like the M10 is vs the M9M) will be nice for my use case. If the majority of the images I made were composed portraits, I'd never sell the M9M, but for my use the M10M will make sense, I think.

Photography was my business and for that I had to shoot mostly color. Now that I'm retired I only have to shoot to please myself--not clients. I believe this camera will finally take me back to shooting nothing but b&w images, which is really where my passion lies.

I did order (had the first 2 iterations) but I am a bit worried by the pics seen so far: the highlights are globally quickly blown... And it seems to be a bit more sensitive than the M246, but we need to check with more samples I imagine.

You have made incredible amount of money with photography! Where I live it is not possible anymore, mostly job for moms and students or just part time.

Yet, it is still possible to buy it here even if working as photographer, but with CC and tax return as business expense.

The days of the professional photographer have been brought to an end by digital photography. If you want to make money you have to do something else.

The perfect Monochrom for me (hypothetical, won’t happen) would be the M9 upgraded sensor within the M10 robust body/quiet  operation.  But as that doesn’t exist, I’d rather keep my original Monochrom, which already yields superb prints (if I do my part), and then maybe take time to eventually try the newer options (including the M10R and its b/w possibilities), using my own pics and print workflow. But there’s no rush, and I have doubts that modern high MP sensors will yield print results better than (or maybe not even equal to aesthetically) what I already can achieve for my b/w tastes.  

I understand the MP race and the continual need to differentiate from a marketing standpoint, but I always appreciated Leica’s past approach, finding that ‘sweet spot’ for image quality, and not yielding to market pressures regarding specifications. Maybe the current trend is required due to third party sensor advances and options, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to more aesthetically desirable results. For me, especially with b/w, it’s far more about tonality and tonal gradations than resolution. Rather than the new Monochrom, I might be more inclined to pick up a used S007 and S70 Summarit, at bargain basement prices, and generate some wonderful b/w pics/prints while using that gorgeous OVF. It depends on priorities... form factor, ergonomics and handling, viewing and shooting experience, weather sealing, etc...and the final result... in print.

I doubt I'd be able to do it in today's market. Everything has changed. I feel extremely fortunate that I had my career during the best of times for print photojournalism. Sheer luck.
