Annual stop for the "Chapman swifts", a migratory population of Vaux's swifts that roost seasonally in the chimney of Chapman Elementary School in Portland, Oregon. The birds began using the Chapman chimney in the early 1980s in response to the loss of much of their natural roosting habitat - old growth Douglas-fir. Shortly after sunset around this time of year, thousands of these birds fly into the top of the brick chimney to roost on the interior surface until they depart at sunrise, on their way to southern Central America for the winter.

A typewriter in the study of the John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez, California. Muir lived there in the 1880s and 90s. Not sure if he used this typewriter, but it's contemporary to his time period in the house. 75mm Summicron, f/2, ISO 12,500

Fame at last😄!  The first shot of mine ever accepted as part of an LFI Gallery, in the category 'Architecture', not surprisingly. Taken in the same session as the previous one (see above).

This is the Asahi Beer building, Asakusa, taken by M10M with a 35mm Summicron IV w/yellow filter.

Excellent tonal rendition and composition. Well deserved selection for the LFI Gallery. Congrats!

M10M 35mm  Summilux Asph Titanium.  f1.4, 1/250. ISO 250. no filter. extremely cropped. Silver Efx3  noir

I can now see how the Q can be used well cropping. I had two lenses with me in a meeting with friends. the 35mm 1.4 and a 90mm  F4.0 Macro-Elmar.

I only used the 35mm because I wanted reduced depth of field. The cropping ended up being as if I had mounted the 90mm. Ran out of time to change lenses. Next time.

Thanks to high resolution I could easily do this. The Silver EFX added film grain that when shooting older folks can be a plus since no one has smooth skin any more.

M10M with 50mm Noctilux 0.95 at full aperture.  This artwork, almost certainly for a Moslem praying, is part of the exhibitions of a new museum here in Washington, DC.  More about the museum, Planet Word, is here.  Kindly observe that resolution improves considerably when viewed on the light-box.   Regards.
