A quick lunchtime walk along the High St today.  75mm Summarit-M f2.5 + yellow filter.  These three are from .dng files, post-processed as per earlier files.

By the way, if people feel I'm monopolising the thread, do let me know!

I lived in Madison from the 1970s-1990s. They did this just about every year, even when there wasn't an impeachment. Also used to have Volvo races on the lake (maybe that's pre-Global Warming).

But, it made such a good story...

There was actually a break from the tradition for several years (you were probably gone by then) because some drunk students torched the original (below is what the original one looked like). Then an inflatable version was made and it also got vandalized (slashed), so this is the third version. Now they guard it and don't leave it up overnight.

I recall one time driving my Dad's brand new Olds onto that ice and doing donuts with some friends. I'm lucky that car isn't at the bottom of the lake now.

Thanks. No, I remember the setting it to fire. We loved Madison; still occasionally go back to visit friends; it's changed so much, especially because of Epic, but the people remain the very best!

I wish I could figure out why your images look so much crisper than what most of the rest of us are posting. It doesn't seem like you're doing that much in post. Certainly not more than anyone else. What ISO, apertures and shutter speeds are you generally using?

FWIW, here's what I've been experiencing when posting here for the last few weeks. I use a high quality, calibrated monitor. When I finish working on an image and get it looking just right, I save for web and post here. Invariably,  the photo comes up looking too dark so I have to do an edit to delete the photo, make curves adjustments until it looks too light on my monitor, then re-post it. This only happens on this forum, not when I post on Flickr or Fred Miranda.

I've noticed this darkening of my  photos once shared here on LUF directly from flickr links. They look fine on my  2 calibrated computers' screens and online on flickr.

I have a feeling that Keith(M) is using extra clarity in his post processing, Keith  !?

I've always been under the impression that cows had either horns (the bull) or udders (the female). This kind of shatters my illusion because it has both.

Brent - 90% are ISO 160, all hand held with auto ISO, shutter speeds at 1/(2f) and apertures very much 'middle of the road' except for post #352 which were f1.4. Highest ISO of those posted so far is a mere 320.   Will have to start pushing the ISO boundaries!

I guess I'm going to have to work on my steadiness. That's about the last variable here.

Any sharpening or use of clarity in post? Keep posting your images are very inspiring but feeding my GAS tendencies!!

Bearing in mind that I am very much ab initio with the M10M having had it for little more that twenty four hours, my workflow is very much based on my b&w film workflow.  Basically after importing into LR Classic I click the 'auto' button. Does it need more adjustment? If yes, that could involve a play with the various sliders and contrast curve. Sometimes (not always by any means) a touch of clarity added.  Unlike with b&w film scans, I have not touched sharpness, I see no need for that with the M10M.

You are obviously a city boy. Sometimes they can have both and frequently they are de-horned to prevent injury to other animals.

The best way of telling if it's a cow or a bull is to see if it has got a willie. Even in the city, cows don't normally have willies.

What I'd like to know is – how did you manage to get it to stay so still, or were you using a very fast shutter speed?

Amazingly crispy. It must be that 41 MPx sensor.

Believe me there is, you can go wherever you want...I personally like contrast photography because most of the time it fits my subject and the light I like.
