Surface Pro 7 i7 with 16GB ram. My older Surface Pro 6 (will be a hand me down) has no issues as well or my Surface Book 2. The only issue is when trying to drive a 4K external monitor. The graphics cards don't have the grunt required. But for travel the fast SSD's and decent graphics for the inbuilt screen mean I have no speed issues when I travel. If I want a larger screen than I use something more significant (either a Mac Pro or Surface Studio) that can drive all those screen pixels properly.

Interesting. I frankly dread the arrival of the SL2 given I'll be shooting with twin ~50Mpx cameras from a processing POV.  It does seem that over the years, where once Adobe was more performant on the Mac platform, the situation has flipped a bit.  Since getting the X1D, for the first time I filled the half TB drive. Typically I had held two months of work locally before xfering off to the NAS with plenty of room to spare. Now it's less than a month.  Where the M10 DNGs were around 30MB, the X1Ds are running up to 150MB and beyond with the edited tiffs as high as 300MB. A 64GB Macbook is looking to be a safe bet before the end of the year.

Yeah, just the fyi I think tariff pricing jut kicked in this week. Prices on Adorama and B&H jumped 25% this week for certain SL lenses.
Smart of Leica to bundle it so it is probably considered a “photo system” instead of standalone lens.

If anyone wants a SL2 in Australia, the Melbourne Leica Boutique has one that is available. Handled their display SL2 yesterday, and it feels much better in the hand than the SL. And the fact that it has words for the buttons and a good quick-menu system is amazing, haha.

I purchased the Summicron SL 35 with my SL2 to avoid the 25% tariff. I only shot a few images with it so far, but it looks amazing. The Summicron and Summilux 35 M lenses with the SL adapter a good too, but the auto focus is nice with the SL 35.

Good for you. My BIG bad. I hesitated on the SL Summicron 35 and WOW the new USD price 🥴 😳Can't imagine these new USA prices are not going to hurt overall sales in USA for Leica, but maybe not. Seems plenty of Leica customers willing to pay whatever for Leica gear. We shall see. I pre-ordered the SL2 but have no idea of ETA at this time. Plenty of time to rethink.

This certainly seems to be the strategy. Local dealers aren't creating them; I specifically asked if they could create a bundle for me and was told no, they expect them to begin arriving after the 1st of the year from NJ, similar to what you heard about 2020. Again, you may very well be correct, but clearly something is up and the folks I spoke with were extremely disappointed by whatever it is, as their allocations were far lower than they had been initially told, just a month before.

I've called around looking for bundles as well to include NJ. I only want the SL 35/2 to start. If there really is a delay until 2020 maybe with some luck the tariffs will not be long lived. Maybe. OTOH Oz from Leica Review Youtube channel recently stated/predicted on a new Channel ? called Camera Review he predicts the SL2 price could drop as low as $4500 in six months ( maybe on black market)

Perhaps, but I wouldn't hold my breadth. The tariffs were imposed, and approved by the WTO, as a response to a complaint about Airbus subsidies. No clue, I'm not an international trade or finance expert, but one suspects until underlying complaint is resolved in some way, there's significant public outcry or at best, as long as the current administration is doing the decision making, the tariffs are likely to remain in place. Write your congressperson, I have, at least regarding the inclusion of German optics.

Further info here which contains the following quote:

"USTR will continually re-evaluate these tariffs based on our discussions with the EU."

Given this dispute dates back to pre-2011, it should be clear that this sort of issue isn't dealt with quickly.

Ufft. Thanks for the details. Quick fix doesn't look promising. I better start looking into reputable HK dealers on eBay.

Sigh... I hate to say this, don't know for certain, but I don't think where it ships from matters. If the box says it contains a German optic, my guess is that customs won't let it through until you pay the tariff. Maybe if it's used, again, dunno.

How is Zeiss not affected by the same? Made in Japan ?

Great news! When did you order? The first day? I ordered mine from B&H on 11/10 (7:13PM). I figure I'll be waiting for several weeks since I didn't order the first day.

That's good news. I placed my B&H order at 11:51am on November 6 and it still shows as backordered. Maybe weeks, not months for me.

It does not look like it is any less in Canada    35mm Apo summicron is listed at Downtown Camera for 7800.00 CND.  b H lists it for 5095.00 US  it looks like it is less to purchase in the states 5095 US is = to 6900.00 CND.

Canada has a national sales tax, doesn't it?  The US price is before local sales taxes are applied (typically 8-10%).  Of course that is for over the counter sales.  For internet sales inside the US, the Wild West rules still apply (mostly).

Interesting.  A couple of days ago it was listed on their site at $5795.  My guess is that they simply multiplied by 1.25 on list price rather than the import cost and rounded up, which they subsequently corrected.   So to the consumer,  its about a 10% increase. Still annoying, but nowhere near as painful as I though initially. Certainly not worth driving to Montreal for.

It is, as both the 35 and 50 are back to their pre-tariff prices. But Adorama has them both at post-tariff prices. I wonder if this is some game B&H is playing as neither is in stock.

I put in a pre-order with a Leica dealer on November 9th, and didn't have any idea where I was in the queue. Yesterday, I went to the Leica online store about something else and discovered that an SL2 was immediately available. I purchased it, and it is being delivered overnight today. Funny thing, I had submitted an email on the site to let me know when the SL2 was in stock, but never received one. So, it might be a good idea to monitor the online store if you're way down on a list.
