Hi all,

im currently using an m10 and 50mm Summicron since selling my Q a while back. I preordered the Q2 which as I had to wait was reason I decided to try the M10, my Q2 is in stock now and I can’t decide what to do..

how does the 50mm crops compare to say a 50mm Summicron shot? I tend to use 50mm as much as 28, so the crop would need to be up to scratch.

thanks

John

John, these are apples and oranges.  The Q 50mm crop is fine but it's only a 50mm angle of view.  The 14.7 megapixels is less than the M10's 24 but that is probably not such a problem for most uses.  But depth of field and perspective will match a 50mm lens.

However if you want to have BOTH 28mm and 50mm and not carry two cameras (and have a lighter camera as well) the Q2 could be a good option.

That is a fantastic photo. I sure hope you’ve got a UV filter on. That duck looks like she could peck the lens in a heartbeat.

Once again, Dan, every one of your shots stands on its own—GREAT ‘street’ work!

Wow - some awesome shots!  I'm so excited to get one - whenever - and trying not to stress about it.  I managed to get some commercial work with my Q published, so that was cool.  And I had the guts to go on a vacation to Vegas and RT66'ing to LA with only the Q - left my 5DIV and a myriad of lenses behind.  The most minimal kit I have traveled with in decades.  I felt absolutely naked at times, but in the end, it was fantastic: liberating, simple, and I got some wonderful shots.  So psyched about the Q2.

I am definitely over the age limit to shop in this store.  My granddaughter, however, who is 14, loves it there.

Dan,  Just for fun:  How about doing a 75mm-equivalent crop on the first photo in your gallery series, zeroing in on the globe?  Would love to see how clear the resolution is of you taking the shot!

 Thanks so much in advance!
