kengai Posted October 2, 2019 Share #1 Posted October 2, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a 35mm that combines very good performance with very small dimensions. I would use this lens on the M10.
Advertisement Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Hi kengai, Take a look here a very small 35mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
evikne Posted October 2, 2019 Share #2 Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) My first choice would be Leica Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH. But it depends on if you want a modern rendering or not. Edited October 2, 2019 by evikne
a.noctilux Posted October 2, 2019 Share #3 Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) Small 35mm for use on M10 ? There are plenty (now) to choose from third parties and Leitz/Leica made. My classic choice was 35mm Summicron-M version III or IV, even the Summilux-M pre-asph. is not big . Welcome, dear visitor! Now, my favorite can be the smallest/lightest Summaron 3.5/35mm in LTM mount with adapter or Summarit-M 2.5/35mm, or Summaron 2.8/35mm, etc. ... Combo, trio 35/50/90 LTM for use with Monochrom, as small and light as can be, Summaron 3.5/3.5cm at front with filter adapter SOOGZ Edited October 2, 2019 by a.noctilux
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! There are also the even smaller Summicron 35/2 v4, Voigtlander Ultron 35/2 and Zeiss Biogon 35/2.8 as far as my lenses are concerned. Another candidate would be the superb Summilux 35/1.4 pre-asph but it flares a lot and has rather poor performance at full aperture, just glow in spades but this is another story. ktmrider2 Posted October 2, 2019 Share #6 Posted October 2, 2019 And a vote for the 35f2.8 Zeiss C-Biogon. Several lens reviewers have suggested it may be the sharpest 35mm made. Some don't like it for its contrast but it is my favorite 35, especially if you are looking for something small.

luigi bertolotti Posted October 2, 2019 Share #9 Posted October 2, 2019 Another vote for the Summaron f 3,5 LTM : right adapter mandatory. Small not costly excellent lens.
Ecar Posted October 2, 2019 Share #10 Posted October 2, 2019 A couple of different, more characterful, suggestions : the MS-Optics Perar 35/3.5, which is VERY small, or the Nikkor 35/2.5 LTM. For very small size, more "modern" performance and moderate price, I'd go for the CV 35/2.5.
lct Posted October 2, 2019 Share #11 Posted October 2, 2019 Adapted Carl Zeiss Tessar 35/3.5. Best LTM lens i've ever used. Perfect match with the Elmar-M 50/2.8. Hard to find unfortunately. Ko.Fe. Posted October 2, 2019 Share #12 Posted October 2, 2019 Modern glass in recent CV 35 f2 Ultron. 39 mm filter, something like 33mm high. Small or/and old lenses or odd lenses gives odd ergonomics.

Small or/and old lenses or odd lenses gives odd ergonomics. Depends on one's morphology and size of the camera i guess. Fact is i use more the tiny LTM lens above in good light than any of my several 35mm lenses on the digital CL. Now i like much the CV 35/2 as a smaller substitute to the Summicron asph on this same CL body. I just miss a sharp compact 35/1.4 for it. The CV 35/1.4 v2 sounds interesting but its OoF rendition is not my cup of tea unfortunately: https://tinyurl.com/y593dhca. bayernfan Posted October 3, 2019 Share #16 Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) So many factors to consider. My favorite "small" 35mm lenses: 35/2 Summicron v5 (asph): modern (medium to high contrast), excellent build quality 35/2 Summicron v4 (made in germany): modern (medium to high contrast), good build quality 35/3.5 Summaron (M or LTM): classic (low to medium contrast), excellent build quality, min. focus 1m 35/1.4 Summilux (pre-asph): classic (low to medium contrast), excellent build quality 35/3.5 MS-Optics Perar: classic (low to medium contrast), questionable build quality 35/3.5 Elmar (LTM): classic (very low to medium contrast), very good build quality, min. focus 1m, sample variation Edited October 3, 2019 by bayernfan
mmx_2 Posted October 3, 2019 Share #17 Posted October 3, 2019 Canon Serenar 35 ltm is also tiny! Otherwise I can also praise the summaron 35 Ltm! Fairly cheap and excellent.

I had the "Canada made" for years before trading for Summilux-M, so didn't know much about Canada/Wetzlar. When I rebought one 35mm Cron IV later, I had some mechanical trouble, like the hood not aligned, then I investigated more before taking it for repair. Now I know that there is some machanical "flaws" in some "Canada made" Summicron IV with plastic parts inside. I use the two 35mm Cron IV 'Canada and Germany, without seeing any difference in output, so optically the same. The weight can show which one can have the mechanical flaws : 135g is with plastic part (mostly Canadian made), 155g "flaws" corrected (mine is Germany made).
