I agree with LCT; I wouldn't be interested if the seller doesn't accept returns particularly with the description you've included with the picture where something doesn't quite tally.

Thanks Pete - funny thing that I was looking at an old olympus lens on Ebay, and asked the seller for a better picture of the lens, showing the front element in focus.....second attempt not even close, so moving ahead...and away

not sure if does not returns - have not ask yet, but might be a big issue as he is in Canada ( although west side too)

out of curiosity, I went ahead and asked the seller about the blades - he is saying that's not oil, just (rubbing?) marks.

looked on the web for examples of oily blades, and it's not perfect match in anyway or sorts, but they look too shiny for just wearing imo

I have that same sort of wear on a few of my older lenses. It’s not oil, I don’t think. 

But it is a very expensive lens to buy without some sort of return privilege or warranty.

thanks - good yo hear from 1st hand experience.

In a way, I almost would prefer it was oil - easier to fix. not sure if this a sign of potential issues, as the lens is over 20 years old. could it the blades mechanism? that much use, of opening/closing aperture? 

I believe that whithin certain limits, return is likely to be warranted  - have not asked

but is it s fair/worthy price? I would have to send it to dag or sohlms to get a c&l for sure

I'm not in a position to comment because the wear on my f/1 Noctilux's aperture blades is very low since I only use it wide open or at f/8 and the latter at 5% of the time at a guess.🤔😊

well, not a surprise that the lens has no takers on FM or Flebay....

 

going after a 0.95 now, unless a 1.0 v4 shows up at an irresistible price. Either one will serve me fine, but I prefer the 0.95 rendering after all, not to say I dislike the 1.0's

I am aware this is sort of talking to myself, but geeezzz, starting to feel that I went to a sleaze-ball car dealership that have a the old style salesman asking right at the door, how much are you willing to spend/invest today .... (after telling that come to see a specific model,year etc.

yeap, happens at buy&sell forums too

Time to close the this thread.....as a soon-to-be a 0.95 owner, and yes keeping all the other lenses

Going to DAG for a CLA before coming to my hands, so will be a few(?) weeks before I can post anything

Thank you all for your insights, and feedback - really valued and appreciated them

it's been sent to DAG for a proper C&L - then my way. Sooooo... hopefully before this month's end.
