So what happened to me is that contacted them and gave them the tax info. The shipping status changed and indicated that the package that was listed as being in Ky was now at the local UPS clearing facility.  Now the notes indicated that there a tax payment due COD. Since I was out of town and used my ups box as my shipping address I was concerned that I would not be able to orchestrate payment when the ups driver dropped it off at the ups store.

Took me a while but I was able to contact someone in another ups dept that was able to accept my tax payment via credit card.

Now the status indicates that the camera is now actually leaving KY and will be delivered on Monday.

Here is the email receipt with the contact phone number.

Bummer, was looking forward to seeing pics! I noticed mine had an import tax, as well, but I went ahead and paid mine online. This just after I cleared customs after getting a hold of their brokerage department (they require tax ID for international shipment valued >$2500). Didn't catch it until I checked the tracking 10mins after the update was posted, so it seems like they sent the payment notification as soon as they sent the payment confirmation after I made payment.

Sadly, my tax was higher than yours. But I should be good for next week.

After all this trouble, I'm wondering if you were charged the same amount as me for the camera..

Tax isn’t too bad

You can say that again!! The other way would be much much more than that. Here I would pay more to the customs simply for “paperwork”, on top of the import duty and VAT (21%) which are calculated on the cost of the item AND the shipping.

Finally made it here! Much larger box than I was expecting, and it's lighter than I thought it would be after I saw how big the package was. I mean, it's less than 7 pounds (3kg) on shipping weight. They're serious about protecting this equipment apparently

Like Michel said, no outer silver box. Just inner box and accessories. You get that little folder thingy with the shutter count and serial stuff, and invoice, too. The drawer above the accessories drawer is empty. Fill it with love (or whatever, I don't know)

Back. There is no screen protector on the display, but it looks pristine.

On mine, there is a noticeable scratch on the side of the bottom plate, right under the "Set" button. I'm a little sad, but it's cool.

I think the OP originally mentioned that these refurbished M9 cameras have less than 2000 shutter clicks. Mine has 4538, so I guess they must have run out of those. But, they also cut the price by almost 500 euro. I was wondering why it was lower, but I did not complain.. heh.... So I guess if you're looking for a discount....?

Invoice of 2352.94 Euros, or 2601.86 USD. For regular M9 with a la carte leathering.

In dollars. From my card statement

Thank you, Mark. I'm very excited and proud of it, too. I'll have to load up some of the several pics I've already taken with my TL and CL cameras at some point. Has been a blast discovering a new passion and sharing in conversation here

I believe the "discount" you refer to is actually the German VAT which has been removed from the asking price because the camera was exported.  I too had the same pleasant surprise.  Given that Leica also pays shipping, any import duty our own country imposes on it is really negated.

Thank you for the input, that is interesting. I wonder if everyone got this same cost by any chance?

I think that leaves me with one concern that mine has a higher shutter count that advertised, and documented. I may have to go back to Michel about this...and see if “anything else” can be done. :)

His original message to me:

All cameras are refurbished:

This means that you have the new generationof CCD sensor.

All parts subject to wear that were defectivehave been exchanged/replaced.

The shutter have all less than 2000 shots. Wedisgned it to last for 50,000.

You receive a service certificate from ourtechnicians and one year of warranty

That’s correct, I paid €2510.00 for my M9-P which I just got a notice that will be shipped next week at the latest. They will provide a tracking number at my request so I can pay taxes in advance.

If the shutter comes with more than 2k clicks is fine with me.

Hi , picked up my refurbished M9P yesterday , it looks like new and had 3528 shutter actuations notified on the Leica customer care receipt.

Took it for a spin fitted with a 35 summilux v2 and a battered hood !

Best, Jean-Marc.

The M9P looks like mine 7 years ago, but it turns prettier and prettier as the brass slowly shines through! :) From serial, the summilux seems at the junction between v1 and v2 (wiki lists the range this serial belongs to as v1)  Did you notice similarities with your v1 in the outcome?

Yes, this v2 is an early infinity lock version with a v1 serial. I have used it a while ago and only on film . I recall it as a great performer slightly contrastier and colder than the v1.

I am travelling right now with no access to a computer .

Here is a shot taken with  this 35 summilux v2 on Provia 100 :

Best, JM.

Thanks, you're responsible for my curiosity on the v1 thanks to a black and white shot you posted quite a long time ago of a thick-haired horse probably at sunrise or sunset as the light was really stroking him. (which was also mostly why the photo made this effect but still it seemed to me the lens had a role as well)

Was shot right after sunset on a M240 with 35 summilux v1:
