I seem to have seen those pictures or part of them already. The feeling i had then was that the CV 35/1.4 is slightly sharper at f/1.4 than the Reissue. Same feeling i have when comparing my CV 35/1.4 SC v2 to my Summilux 35/1.4 v2, except for the glow, but i may be missing something.

69xchange Posted July 31, 2024 Share #242 Posted July 31, 2024 From my testing, the voigtlander is inferior to the steel rim reissue (in terms of image quality), but build quality seems better than the SR reissue. SR reissue has better center sharpness, more glow, and less distortion than the voigtlander nokton classic ii.
TomB_tx Posted July 31, 2024 Share #243 Posted July 31, 2024 I've used both the CV Nokton 35 1.4 v1 & v2, but never a 35 Summilux of any vintage. However, both my CVs seem to be as sharp and the v2 Summicron 35 I've used since 1969. They do have more distortion (both about the same), but it's never bothered me in "real" pictures. I wouldn't call them exceptionally sharp from f1.4 to 2.8 but are pleasing for low light work in that range. I've done some near 100% crops of the v1 at 5.6-8.0 that held up very well. I keep the Noktons on film and M9, and stay with the Summarit 35 2.5 on my M10, where nothing faster than 2.5 is needed. I love small lenses, and these are ideal size to me.
69xchange Posted August 1, 2024 Share #244 Posted August 1, 2024 Dug up some old pictures of my tests between the Leica 35mm steel rim reissue, Voigtlander 35mm Nokton Classic SC ii and Leica 35mm lux pre-asph v2. These quick tests were done on different days but around similar time in the afternoon, so the color/lighting maybe off. But this is just a comparison of sharpness for you guys. 69xchange Posted August 1, 2024 Share #246 Posted August 1, 2024 (edited) -All lenses show significant vignetting. -In the Voigtlander, you can see the barrel distortion in the second picture. -SR has the sharpest center image and also the most "glow". -Lux Pre-asph V2 is the least sharpest in the center. Can't really draw any conclusions from your pictures because the lighting is so different between test shots.

jgeenen Posted November 9, 2024 Share #251 Posted November 9, 2024 I have a Nokton II S.C. If I conclude everything posted so far (and read elsewhere), the Nokton and the different variants of Summilux pre asph are very close (at least in real world photography) - so from rational point I wouldn’t benefit from a change, right? On my M11, the special characteristics of the Nokton do not qualify it to be an everyday lens. I am right now checking out how it works out on my MP (I assume the characteristics to be less pronounced on 8x10 prints). Could it be the default lens to go on film? While waiting for the scans from my recent London trip (I loved size and weight of the combo) I am doing a trip to Berlin right now - with the Summilux asph… Will I notice the difference in print? While I notice the difference in carrying or handling? I will see… what is your opinion? Is the Nokton a good every day choice for a film Leica MP? Or, if I want to keep the form factor, should I go for a Cron or Lux?

Yes unlike you want a more modern rendition. Voigtlander Nokton 35/1.5 asph would probably be the better candidate aside from the Leica Summilux 35/1.4 asph and the Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4 i have no experience with. haikos Posted November 9, 2024 Share #253 Posted November 9, 2024 In @69xchange 's comparison post, I though the v2 lux looked the best out of all 3 and the Nokton Classic looked 2nd best. In terms of rendering that is, while disregarding colour and lighting.
