Gary Stein of Florham Camera (973-822-2626) has really come through for me.  First a spare battery delivered last Monday and now a Q2 delivered today (fabrication date 07/12).  I don’t know how Gary achieves this, but he really knows Leica and is a real pleasure with whom to deal.  Now to learn how to use my first real Leica.

Received the Q2 yesterday from Camtec Photo. Fantastic camera. It’s very comfortable to hold. I love the simplicity of selecting Auto for shutter, aperture, and iso independently to the control shooting mode. It’s brilliant,  and you don’t need a PASM dial.

The shutter is so quiet I wasn’t sure it had shot.

Now awaiting the Art Di Mano case.

😃

Late to the show on this, but ordered my Q2 from Adorama on July 8th. Was kinda hoping to have it well before my trip to Brussels, Ghent and Utrecht in early October. Everything I've been reading so far doesn't give me hope.

Also went on the wait list at Gary Stein's Florham Camera in New Jersey.... he seems to be getting them to hopeful recipients sooner, idk.

Anyone know of any suppliers with Q2 stock just lying around unclaimed by any chance.... ;)?

I received my Q2 from the Leica Store SF today, ordered last Monday... currently charging the battery, can't wait to take it for a spin. I noticed some odd things:

  • Was the screen supposed to ship with a tear off screen protector? Mine didn't, not sure if that is indicative of an open box, or if they just don't ship that way.
  • Is there supposed to be a printed manual? Mine only came with the quick start guide, the certificate of authenticity and other various leaflets...
  • No sign of those little leather discs to protect from scratches from the strap lugs. Again, not sure if those were supposed to be in the box (they were included when I got my MP240 a while back).

Everything else looks fine, just making sure I am not missing anything :) Thanks!

Mine was shipped directly from Leica. It had no screen protector or leather discs. Also, the Q2 does not ship with a printed manual. You can download a PDF of the manual here.

You can also order a printed copy free off charge from here.

Enjoy the Q2, can't wait to see some of your shots!

That's a relief, and  thanks for the links to the manual! Not that I am going to read it anyway, but I won't always be able to asks dumb questions in the forum ☺️

Can't wait to go out there and take some pictures... I am looking at you, battery charging lights 🧐

Just wanted to let folks who are looking for a Q2 know that I listed a Q2 on eBay at 8/4/2019 @ 8:10 DST for a 3-day auction.  There's not many listed, so just do a quick search to find it (shipping from Orchard Park, NY).  This listing includes an assortment of high-spec accessories to help get going out of the gate.  Everything is in like-new condition.  The only reason for the sale is a business decision on this end - the asset is not needed going forward.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Why an auction rather than a buy now for x $$?

I've been on eBay for so long and started with using plain old auction-style listings.  Just staying the course with the same format (3-day standard auction) that I've used from the beginning.  Hope it's not too much of a nuisance to those interested in buying.

I placed my order at Tamarkin Camera on 5/8 and was 70-something on the list. As of mid June I was 50-something on the list. As of two weeks ago I was #35. As of yesterday, I was, I believe, #6. So they're moving along. I would think I'll be getting mine out of their next allocation.

Plus it's a really nice store, the guys there are great and I'm happy to give them my business. I pulled my orders from Adorama and B&H two weeks ago after visiting the store personally.

Forgot to check back to the thread after i got my camera :)

Finally got my Q2. In fact i got the first one and it was waiting for me for ~2 weeks (end of June). The day before i got it the Leica Store SF said that the box looked damaged so they checked and the contents where damaged. So i ended up waiting for another shipment.

Came in 2 weeks ago on July 24th woohoo :)

Oh and i got it from Leica Store SF. Give them a call really nice to work with.

Okay then.... after adding myself to the wait list for a Q2 with Gary at Florham Village Camera in New Jersey on August 1st... I was stunned after he called me today with the word it was ready to be picked up. It's August 7th. It's taken just 6 days.

Cancelling my Adorama order is my next thing to do.

I have a rather venal explanation for the fact that one can place an order at BH Photo in May and still be on an invisible wait list, and someone like Charlie F can place an order at a smaller camera shop on August 1st and have the camera in six days. I imagine that the large sellers like BH either are offered or negotiate a lower wholesale cost based on their volume business. Perhaps Leica is fulfilling orders to their more profitable wholesale clients first?  I placed my order at BH in June largely because they're offering through 'Payboo' to eat the sales tax, a significant amount of money in NY State. I'll gut it out with my CL and 23 Summicron till.....whenever.
