Coming back to photography after 10 years since I sold my beloved M4 and M6 . Ordered q2 from B&H after a bit of reading .

Now it seems I have to wait for eternity . Any speculation on how long the wait will be ? Like 4-6 months or more ?

You picked a great time to get back into the Hobby!

Been 3 mos for me...  i'm told  the fall..  but, i hear orders trickling in...  might not be that bad though.  I already have a desk full of accessories but no camera!

I have my Nikon gear to keep me happy.

You might want to get on the list at a smaller store as well.  They might have much shorter waiting lists, even accounting for lower allocation numbers.  Then you can always withdraw from whichever list is longer once the call comes in.

If anyone is interested, I will be posting a very little used Q2 in mint condition (four months old, as new) with spare battery in the next week or so for the best offer over £3750.

Only selling as it is my second camera and it is not getting enough use to justify the cost. UK sale and collection.

I just got my Q2 from Camera West after ordering mid March. I've had the Q since it came out in 2015.

I find it is a much better camera! The images are sharper, the macro seems much better and I don't see the banding I sometimes experienced on the Q. This has all led me to wonder: we see there has been a difference among users as to whether they prefer the Q or the Q2's images. Maybe it's not so much individual preference (or needs) but sample variation? Now of course a company like Leica will have good quality assurance and testing but there still will be some variability in individual units. In my case, I'd say that for sure the 47  MP helps, but I think I simply lucked out and got a superior sensor and lens.

+1. Same as my experience with my new Q2. Very happy with it.

Hey! Just wondering i also ordered mid March from Leica store SF (Camera West basically), when did you get a call for the camera and then pick it up?

Since that means i should be coming up on the list then too :)

For those on the fence about whether to get a Q/Q-P vs the Q2 Leica has an offer. Remaining inventory of new Q-P being discounted to $3995 (msrp 4995).

https://us.leica-camera.com/World-of-Leica/Leica-News/Local/USA/2019/Leica-Q-P-Offer

I have a Q-P and really like it. Just took delivery of my new Q2 and my immediate impression is ho-hum. Caveat- I have very little actual shooting time with it so take my initial reaction with. big grain of salt.

I ordered my Q2 from BH Photo on 4/8/2019.   I called them a few weeks ago and they wouldn’t tell me how many are in the queue before me but they did say there were many, many, many 10’s of orders ahead of me and based upon their monthly Leica shipment arrivals to expect a 12-18 month wait unless they begin receiving larger Leica shipments.  I believe they have only been receiving 20 Q2 cameras per month.   I have placed my name on smaller shop’s waiting lists.

I found someone online selling a "new unopened" Q2 for sale. The box looks legit but is printed "leica q2 19052". (US Q2s are p/n 19050).   I cannot find any reference to this 19052 p/n on Leica websites.

What do you think?  Buy and examine or reject as "suspicious" and keep waiting on Leicas delivery schedule.

Camera West in Walnut Creek, CA was able to get one for me much faster than B&H or Adorama.  I suspect their allocation/backlog ratio is much better than some of the larger stores.  I would recommend putting your name on a list at a smaller store if you are currently waiting for one of the NYC mega stores. Plus, I have always gotten great service from Camera West.

I think we are all learning a little something about Leica and its dealer network. I think Leica may have an appreciation for the value a relationship with a  small dealer can bring to its distribution network for both customer and company. I love the high standards that B&H sets but unless you live in NYC and visit the store, you are unlikely to develop a customer relationship with any single person there, its the disadvantage of their size.

I placed my initial order for the Q2 with B&H. Later I switched to a smaller dealer, Capture Integration of Atlanta who is my dealer of choice for tech camera and MF digital. When I order from them, I call a person, the same person, every time. It’s the same guy that has actually talked me out of certain items before directing me towards better and cheaper alternatives. I placed an order with them and at the same time cancelled my B&H order, opting not to play the game of ordering everywhere and seeing who can deliver first. I’m quite sure B&H would have delivered a few weeks before Capture Integration, I had ordered from B&H on the afternoon of 3/7 but I am happier having supported a smaller dealer dedicated to providing the added value of knowing who I am.

Received a call from Leica Store in DC yesterday.... my number is up and they are ready to ship my Q2.  Quite fast as I was only on the waitlist with them for 2 months.  Still no word from B&H regarding my order so no I can shorten that list for someone waiting.  Very excited as I am heading to London in a week.  Perhaps I can purchase a spare battery in London while I am there.
