Since old selfies seem allowed... me (left of center) at 14 with our first home-made flying machine.  This was before you bought kits.  The steering handle is from an old lawnmower and we sewed the wing fabric on the altar of the church.  The only place big enough and we got the priest to bless it for safety.  

We did move in to planes that other people designed and built shortly thereafter.  🙂

Apologies for being shot with a Rolliflex but it’s before I got my first Leica and couldn’t resist breaking the rules just this once...

Thank you. I took this last September at the Goodwood Revival - I felt that it was a graphic way to illustrate the view from his office for a Sopwith Camel pilot in 1917 - the average life expectancy for a Pilot on the Western Front in the RFC was 90 flying hours. #LestWeForget
