I absolutely agree.  My entire Cuba trip was with the 35mm.  What a pleasure--no lens changing, walked around with JUST a camera (no bag) most of the time, no apparent sensor dust  issues, lightweight, etc.  And I was extremely happy with the resulting photos.  I just ended up looking for ways to "see" scenes to photograph using the 35mm perspective.
Not sure if my satisfaction was due to the "one lens" concept or because it was a 35mm lens.  Maybe both factors!?
My suggestion is to bring two lenses...ANY two.  Leave one on the camera and one in the bag as much as possible and see what happens.
Enjoy!  Good luck.

Or just only 50mm as a challenge 😇

More thought ...

as in my experience, in most case my photo gears work fine, but...

when I expected less, some kind of malfunctions occured 😩

since long, we have kind of back-up gear for emergency.

Here, why not an M more with 28mm on it (plus M+50mm) ?

On a recent trip to Nepal I took an M-P240 with 50 Summicron, and a Leica Q. I wasn't disappointed.

On a previous trip to Bhutan, two MPs with 50 Summilux 50 and 35 were just a little too heavy

THANKS for the heads' up, Harpomatic!  I definitely appreciate the feedback.  Apparently, the signature was sending the link to the old URL.  I think I've got it changed for "future attempts."  That is, I don't think the old signature has or will update.  But, going here (www.sml-photos.com) should work now.  Thanks for taking a look...the site will be updated soon.  I've been working on my blog site more lately ( http://blog.sml-photos.com/ ).

On my recent trip to the Med, I took way too much gear with me. Being a once in a lifetime trip and having the luxury of a safe in the room, it worked out OK. I had the CV 50/1.2 with me for review purposes. My review of it should be up on the lhsa.org site in a day or two. That lens did quite well and I used it quite a bit. I also had with me aside from the comparison 50's several other lenses. WATE, 28/2.8 ASPH, 24 ASPH, 35/1.4 ASPH and 75/2.5. I actually used all of these. The WATE got used the most, then the 28 or 24 and then the 50. I used the 75 for a few images, same for the 35. This surprised me, as the 35 was my most used lens for many years. Maybe having the 50 in the bag, the 35 was too close in angle of view.

As I said above, I had the 50/1.4 ASPH, Zeiss 50/1.5 and 50/2.8 Elmar M along for comparison purposes to the CV 50/1.2, but I never did the comparisons. Just not the time or patience on behalf of my wife and the other couple with us!

If I had to do it again, I would have the M10 and another digital M so as not to be changing lenses as frequently. I would take the WATE, 28 or 24 and the 50. That's it. That way I would have two cameras always at hand with two other focal lengths on a back to back coupler.

I also had a NEX6 with kit zoom along as a "decoy" camera when I didn't want to take the M out in questionable areas (ie. Barcelona). This camera had more reach than the 75 and still a decent wide angle to the zoom and took some very good pictures. Plus it had a built in flash when needed.

Three or four lenses on a long trip?

For long trips, with my 35mm film camera,  I normally carry a main lens (35, 40, 45, or 50mm), a wide lens (28, 24, 21, or 18mm), and a telephoto lens (75, 85, or 90mm).

On some of my long trips, I add a macro as the fourth lens.

I'm certainly looking forward to reading your opinions on the CV 50mm 1.2 - I really like it.

Having said that, the lightness of the M240 with the Planar is wonderful and not front heavy like the CV 50mm...I'm staritng to lean towards 21 and 50 Zeiss, 35 is a maybe, needing to choose between 90 and 135.

It's such a personal choice, and depends on so many factors. In the 70's and 80's I took 2 Nikon's including an F2 with motor, and lenses from 15 to 400 plus a couple of M4's with 3 lenses and this was just travelling with the family. In the 90's we went trekking in Nepal for 3 weeks and I was taking 2 M6's with 4 lenses plus a full Mamiya 6 kit with 3 lenses plus a Noblex 150. Porters helped with a lot of the stuff, but the cameras I carried myself.

Now I sometimes carry just a camera and 2 or 3 lenses; a 35 is always one of them. So a good combination is the WATE, 35 Summilux and 75 Summicron. The usage is usually 60% 35mm, 25-30% WATE and 10-15% 75mm. But that's me, on that trip. The last trip I took where photography was a major component was with m43 equipment and focal lengths over 200mm were used in 75% of the shots.

I have gone on trips with just a 35/1.4 on an M. There were always enough subjects for me to photography with just that focal length that I never felt disadvantaged due to lack of lenses.

The first thing I REALLY want after the first lens with a 35 is another camera; the next focal length isn't as important.

There are always enough subjects for whatever focal lengths you have and feel comfortable with, but it is nice to have another camera completely ready with another focal length, whatever that may be.

I would like to thank everybody for their input!

I decided on three lenses only: 21mm Biogon, 50mm 1.2 and 90mm 2.8.

The 21mm was never in doubt. The CV 50mm 1.2 is my favourite lens, and it’s my “old friend”, to use a definition from Tailwagger. The 50mm Planar would have just been the practical choice for my favourite focal length. The 90mm choice was made purely on size/weight grounds: I’m taking the CV 50mm 1.2 that’s heavier, I’ll get the lighter tele - the tele will be the least used lens but I’d like the option to be there, hence the lightweight!

From my bag: 24, 35 & 75... alternativel 35 only (plopp, plopp, fizz, fizz... oh what a relief... 😉

I'm not far from this. For cities 24, 35, 75 and for all-round 28, 50, 90. More than 3 lenses get a bit heavy and I can certainly make do with either a 35 or 50 as my only lens.

That's very interesting!

In the past I thought that 28mm is the best combination with 50mm, but I often take only 35/50mm with me.

Times changes ...
