Not sure what time I'l be arriving. I came over yesterday and the normal 4 1/2 hour drive from Dover to Devon was 7 3/4 hours due to road works and road closures. The A303 was closed as was part of the M5 which I was planning to take tomorrow morning.

Ian's going for the furthest travelled award then 😜

I’ve got most of the traveling done today, staying in Swindon for the night before heading to Chippenham in the morning to pick up my grandson and Pete. See everyone in Lacock and let’s hope the weather is kind to us.

Grandad??!!  I wondered who you were! 😂

I've sent you a PM about phone numbers, Geoff.

Ian, sounds like you had a bit of a nightmare journey.

You wouldn't believe it. A few miles from Dover I burst a tyre. So I had to unpack the boot to get the what they call the spare. It's more like a bicycle wheel. Then change the ruddy thing on the motorway hard shoulder in the dark, the rain, and of course it was on the traffic side. I was sure a lorry was going to hit me, and I got well and truly sprayed everytime on went past. When it was changed and all packed up again, I could only drive at 50 max with the bicycle wheel. That was just the start of my nightmare. Half way from the M25 to Basingstoke, there were signs that the A303 was closed, so I was diverted back to the M4-M5 route. It's of course much longer. Then a good portion of the M5 was closed. It's amazing how many roadworks and closures there are in the South and South West. Last time I came over in March, there were about 5 or 6 road closures along my usual route (M25->M3->A303 to Exeter). I had to zigzag all across Hampshire/Wiltshire/Somerset to finally get here. That time my Satnav gave up and took a train home. I reverted to the good old paper map, which luckily I still have.

Oh and I must apologise. I found one or two more LFIs at home and thought of bringing them for you.... of course my memory is like a sieve so they are still in Belgium !

See you all tomorrow, I'll be wearing a pink carnation...

We’ve just enjoyed Sonia’s birthday dinner in our hotel, looking out onto a glorious Wiltshire landscape and a lovely sunny evening.

Having forgotten her Forum logon (‘it’s  at home’...🥴) she’s asked me to thank Geoff for organizing the day, and everyone for being so welcoming and making the day so enjoyable.
