Me neither but M system is very incapable.  I think it is good for retirement folks but for professional use, It has tons quality, customer service, techical & technician issues, I need to move away but currently stuck with few M glasses.

The M lenses work fine for me. Here are two more with the 75mm Summarit close to wide open on the Z7. You should be able to see where I placed the point of focus - close to the reptile's eye.

I am new to this forum. I am a long time Nikon user and photography teacher.

I recently purchased a Nikon Z7 with one of my main goals to put some small, light, high quality Leica lenses in front of the Nikon sensor.

I started by borrowing a 35mm Summilux ASPH. It was a joy to use and the images were great. I did some research and found the highest praise for the 50mm Apo Summicron. So I went to test one with my 55mm Otus in tow. The size difference was laughable. The image quality (color, fall off, acuity, etc) right from f2 of the Summicron blew me away. I sold the Otus and bought the Summicron.

This had me excited to build a small light premium setup.

I had read about the issues with wides. The 35 had not been a problem. So I started looking at others. The SEM21 was first on the list. In the center it was spectacular from wide open. In fact, out to about 60% it was amazing. But from there it dropped off. Not until f8 were the corners quite sharp and even then, they didn’t compare to the $700 Nikon f1.8 at f2.8. I tried the Zeiss 21mm f2.8 and it was worse than either. I was disappointed.

I tried the 24mm f3.8 ASPH, and it was better than the 21 but still showed corner smearing until f5.6.

So for now, it will be the 35mm Summilux, 50mm Cron and 90mm Apo Cron (when I can find a good one) Wides will have to be larger (although the 21mm is quite light) and used with the FTZ adapter.

Just FYI the best wife I have used is the 25mm Milvus. It is magic from wide open.

Basiltahan, hi. I just joined the discussion and want to purchase Z7. I have some Leica lenses for my M8, but would like to use them sometimes on body with more megapixel. I am especially eager how WATE performs on Z7. Are they some good samples that you could post. And 28 Summicron if you have. Thank you. Janez

+1. I know people are asking specifically about the Z7. I've done some work with a Z6 and M lenses via a Novoflex adapter.  Not quite the same as my SL (now gone) with M glass.  And why should it be? Frankly a little underwhelmed, but for me that's not the end of the world.  The Z6 is a fine camera with native glass, and F mount stuff via the FTZ.

This is with a MATE v1@35mm and Novoflex adapter.

The Z7 will eventually be used toward work but I still have a M240P with me for hobby.  Now the question is would I miss it?  I can't wait to find out.

Fair enough - but this goes both ways 😉

I moved from a CL to Z7, it's a great camera and the lenses are excellent. The 'user experience' of the Z7 is far better in my view.

I just use Leicas for film now.

which lens(es) did you get?  I am waiting for the new firmware update that has "eye focus" if that works well then a 24-70 f2.8 will be in my list.  I wonder how fast is the CFexpress card too.... so excited.

I have the Z24-70/4 and the Z35/1.8 so far, plus the 105/2.8 macro with the FTZ adapter. I'm not sure which 50mm to get, the 0.95 looks too big, so either the 1.8 now or wait for the 1.2...

First time to test the Z last night in low light situation (which is one of reason(s) to get the Z).  The result is DAY and NIGHT!  I started to question... really... was the ISO real in Leica?  There were many more "really" but I don't wanna be a jerk here.  Anyway, I didn't sleep until 3AM and I made some changes on the Z to mimic the famous Leica mood 😁 and -- oh yeah!

I started the research on few 35mm and Medium format cameras since last summer, until I take delivery last evening, most of my questions are now answered and evidently true.  However, I still love the MP240 because the RF gives me a very different feel -- some say "Leica experience".  Something feel like a convertible classic VW beetle for weekend drive ha!

You're not.

+1. I'd go even further and call it the Leica groove. People move about differently when they hold a Leica. Think John Travolta Saturday Night Fever. "Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a Leica man, no time to talk." Oh yeah!

You're scoring all the big points here.

If the 35 1.8 lens is very good (and it is) then the 50 1.8 deserves every superlative. Only wait if faster speed is imperative for you.

The 50/1.2 unfortunately looks like it is going to be large. I am very satisfied with the 35/1.8S. Lovely lens.

The two lenses are identical in size, the 50 I think +8gm or so, but negligible difference to the hand.  (I have both – would opt for faster 35 optic if Nikon comes up with one.)
