I don’t see the disagreement. I have posted repeatedly that there is nothing against IBIS and that the reasons are technical- heat and space. However many traditional users don’t want it and personally I don’t need it , but that does not make me oppose it.

Silly expensive would only apply if other mfgs made the same thing for less money.  But they don't.  So Leica charges what the market would bear, and obviously that price point has been, and is, successful.

Whether it is worth it is up to you - and apparently it is not.  But because it is not does not mean the price is silly.  It is what Leica's target audience are willing to pay.

FYI I would never pay new money for a digital Leica.  They are not worth it to me at that price point  - but used?  Most definitely.  Would I say that new price point is silly?  No, because Leica is a business, and they have their audience.

In that case, we largely agree.

My point regards what the new-price for a mirrorless full-frame camera is versus a digital Leica M. That's basically the same thing, except for the mount and sensor glass thickness, except if you insist on having a rangefinder, which to me is an outdated technology. For those who insist on that, there are Fuji cameras (in APS-C format, though).

The MD-2 should not be an M then. The essence of M cameras is the M mount😛

What percentage of M cameras ever sold were not equipped with a rangefinder? Don't use an exception to characterize the product.

Right. I don't see myself going back to using rangefinder (I had Leica M4-2 w/ four Leica lenses in the eighties and nineties). The advantages of the modern technology make the rangefinder technology obsolete in my opinion. I do understand that some prefer "the rangefinder experience" (nostalgia, etc.).

Hopefully, Leica decides to make a modern camera with M mount - something like a "Leica QM"; basically a Q camera with M mount.

No digital Fuji has an optical rangefinder.  I owned an Xpro3.  It does have an optical vf, but if you try to manual focus, a small EVF appears in the corner.  So you are focusing with an EVF.

With AF the Fuji is great.  Trying to manual focus while in the OVF mode is a slow pain in the keester.  A Leica optical RF is much easier and quicker to use.

Okay, after checking an online dictionary, you are talking about the focusing mechanism (which correctly is called rangefinder). I was referring to the (optical) viewfinder, but obviously didn't use the proper English word for it. I am not sure what it is called then. Simply "optical viewfinder"?
