As a side note, I have set a specific temporary e-mail address, which will be published right after the challenge and closed after all entries are in. I would like to avoid to attact too much spam. In case anyone would like to have it right now, please PM me.

It's not too late to opt to join in. Hey all you New York denizens with Leicas, get motivated and meet us on May 4 at midday for lunch @ Washinton Square Diner, then get started on the Challenge with us!

In case more people would like to join the dinner, Steve B. or I could check with the restaurant about adding seating.

I have also updated the rules, which should have all informations now, please tell me, if anything is missing or unclear (hence "final draft").

Looking forward to see everyone in one week

Hi Stefan,

Only thing I see missing is the token entrance fee :) $10 as usual, winner takes all?

Hi Simon, I left this out since personal registration on Saturday is not required. Since the winner typically donates the collected entrance fees, I shortly considered a 10 USD donation to our house charity (Cancer Research) instead but abandoned this out to allow local members to join last minute.

OK. For me one of the worthwhile things of taking part in the challenge was always the donation the winner makes afterwards.

Correct, we are missing the charitable aspect with the current arrangement.

As partly discussed offline, I'm thinking a model where everyone is asked to donate 10 USD when or before sending in his picture. That would give last minute participants the option to join spontaneously and pay later, I have the feeling that this short-term change will not be seen any more by everyone.

Would this fulfill the idea, or do I miss an additional point which the original arrangement (everyone pays 10 GBP/USD/AUD/EUR when turning up at the meeting point) is fulfilling?

For me, it is an interesting insight that some aspects, which I see as not essential can be important to others, so I need to check this. Please feel also free to PM me.

Halo Stefan,

First of all, thank you for organising the New York One Challenge because I know from personal experience how difficult it can be.

I am happy which ever way it's done, for example collecting $10 at lunch on Saturday or electronically from those who can't be there for lunch, or a combination of both, or as you suggested above paying $10 with the picture submitted for judging, which would need to be sent electronically of course.  (We need to make sure that electronically sending money to you doesn't cause you any unexpected accounting or tax problems etc owing to the system and laws operated in Germany.)

Pete.

I’m embarrassed that I knew nothing of this prior to 1 hour ago, and then only because of a PM from Pete. We’re fully booked except for early Friday morning the 3rd and early Tuesday morning the 7 th. If any of you are around and available I’d really like to meet you.

Well, apparently there is one part of the forum which you don't visit that regularly :)

Due to a special regulation you can take part in the Challenge nevertheless, if you like, since personal registration is not required this time. Just announce your choice of lens, body and film/ISO until Saturday noon.

I'm available on both on 3rd and 7th in the morning, I'm sure we can arrange a crowd. Coming from an eastern time zone, early morning shouldn't be an issue at all. In fact, I'm up for more than 22hrs now but will stay up for a while, but I'm sure we all have been there before...

Depending on how early we'd love to meet as well, we're flying in late Thursday and staying at the Hilton Newark Airport that night, we'll come into the city Friday morning. We won't be available the 7th.
