Advertisement Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Hi feelssadman, Take a look here New CV Nokton 50/1.2 . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
onasj Posted March 2, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) I saw this... and I happen to be in the market for a 50 noctilux-like lens but haven't pursued the nocti for the following four reasons: 1) 1 m MFD 2) underwhelming acuity wide open beyond the center of the image 3) CA at large apertures 4) price It looks like the CV 50/1.2 will likely address 1 and 4; hopefully 2 and 3 as well. cp995 Posted March 2, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) If it has the same qualities as the new Nokton 1.2/40mm, my buy ... Edited March 2, 2018 by cp995
feelssadman Posted March 2, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) I assume that it will at least have the same qualities like Voigtländer's latest lens which should solve problems 2 and 3. Minimum focus distance is at 70cm. Maybe I'll write a review here as soon as I got one. Edited March 2, 2018 by feelssadman
james.liam Posted March 2, 2018 Share #5 Posted March 2, 2018 It's announcement so soon after the 1,2/40 release would suggest that its behavior should be different; otherwise, why bother for an additional 10mm FL? Whether this means no focus shift, better control of CA or flatter field remains to be demonstrated.
Ecar Posted March 2, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2018 A comparison with the 50/1.1 would be interesting too. MFD seems to be an obvious difference, but I wonder whether they changed the optical formula.

For me 40mm is very different from 50mm and not to forget the framelines! DSLM users don't care about this, but RF users do Edited March 2, 2018 by cp995
a.noctilux Posted March 2, 2018 Share #8 Posted March 2, 2018 Good news. Good Voigtlander "budget choice from asph./1.2 lenses" : 35, 40, 50 .

luigi bertolotti Posted March 2, 2018 Share #10 Posted March 2, 2018 I am curious if this is a replacement for the 1.1, somewhat slower to improve IQ. I suppose is like this... probably they'll stop production of the 1,1 (but several items are still around , I think) : no much sense to have both on regular pricelist / availability... maybe they are thinking (or drawing) a f 0,9 to have a "real Noct" (and, if I were them, I'd do it not exactly 50...) Raid Amin Posted March 3, 2018 Share #11 Posted March 3, 2018 A comparison with the 7artisans 50/1.1 would be useful too.
Lax Jought Posted March 3, 2018 Share #12 Posted March 3, 2018 I will buy this especially if performs as spectacularly as the 35mm f/1.2 II. Sent from my SM-G901F using Tapatalk
james.liam Posted March 3, 2018 Share #13 Posted March 3, 2018 A comparison with the 7artisans 50/1.1 would be useful too. My expectation of Cosina based on experience would lead me to suspect it will far exceed “7 fArtisans”. Just a hunch.
robgo2 Posted March 5, 2018 Share #14 Posted March 5, 2018 I use the Nokton 50 f/1.5 VM on an SL and love it. I cannot see much advantage to an f/1.2 lens unless the rendering is very superior. I am not overly concerned with paper thin DOF.
pgmj Posted March 7, 2018 Share #15 Posted March 7, 2018 I like the .7m mfd and the return to old style focus ring. The new 1.5 nokton wasn’t quite my cup of tea, ergonomically.
cp995 Posted March 7, 2018 Share #16 Posted March 7, 2018 (edited) ... and the return to old style focus ring.... I think the new one is the successor of the old Nokton 50 f1.1 and that one had the same focus ring. I'd prefer a focus tab instead ... microview Posted March 7, 2018 Share #17 Posted March 7, 2018 (edited) First shot with this lens, on a TL2: in the dealer's while trying it out before purchase. F4 I think. Impressively sharp lens. (BTW straight OOC no corrections of any kind.) APOLOGIES ALL – THIS IS THE 40MM NOT THE 50! (SUGGEST MODERATORS DELETE) Welcome, dear visitor! Vegvisir Posted March 18, 2018 Share #18 Posted March 18, 2018 I asked someone on the Flaghead stand at TPS about the new 50mm f1.2 Nokton. They have no idea when stock will arrive and no cost information, but expect it to be similar to the 40mm f1.2. The CV range of M mount lenses is looking quite interesting the build quality Is impressive throughout.
Ouroboros Posted March 30, 2018 Share #19 Posted March 30, 2018 I’ve been in the market for a fast 50mm M lens since I sold my noctilux f1 a few years ago. After seven years of using it, I came to the realisation that I didn’t like it very much. I could get a summilux, but I’m not convinced I would like that very much, either. This CV f1.2 lens is currently vapourware and Flaghead don’t even know if it will appear this year, but it could eventually be The One, if I like it. In the meantime, I’ll struggle on with my modest 50mm Elmar-m, which I do like. A lot. I wish Lensbaby would make a coupled Burnside or Velvet. I’d like those, too. microview Posted March 31, 2018 Share #20 Posted March 31, 2018 Wonder when this lens will start delivering. If it's as good as the recent 40 1.2 VM it will be an amazing bargain.
