it's nice to see some images from this lens which we don't see very often.

I also like colour infrared images if this is what you mean by 'super color conversion'.

I don't mean to ''teach granny to suck eggs' but If it is, then I assume you haven't used any IR filters or any channel swapping when post processing, and this is why the colours look odd to some with the overall green tinge.  Full spectrum/Super Colour IR conversions and a variable IR filter will produce a great range of interesting colours with dark blue skies and golden plant foliage.  You can also emulate the red look of classic IR films such as Kodak Aerochrome.

If you are aware of this then please accept my apologies, and I will assume in future that this greenish look is what you intended.

Hi BobityBob - these are pretty much straight out of camera images with just a little processing for contrast..

it’s actually a hyper color converted sensor not super color as I previously stated.. no extra filters used.. I have not done any additional processing like channel swapping.. I’ll do that soon when I use a wider lens with this camera.. for these images I posted, I didn’t quite care enough to do a lot of processing.. I don’t have any other R lens though.. so can’t post here on this forum 😌 the colors SOOC are mostly purple than green though.. but I agree there is a lot of green in the images I’ve posted

but you’re right.. channel swapping etc is what I intend to do when I shoot for landscapes.. hopefully I’ll get some inexpensive R lens on the wider range and shoot some landscapes to share here..

What is a Canon SL2 (super color converted sensor)? The colors are not super. The lens can do better! Even on an APS-Sony with a lens booster installed.

By the way, I have a lensbooster for Canon EF lenses on a Sony A6500. This combination works perfect, even the correct actual focal length is stored into the picture data.

canon DSLR has a model SL2..
It’s a hyper color IR converted sensor.. my bad.. it’s supposed to have those purple tone.. I got my canon SL2 converted by lifepixel

https://www.lifepixel.com/infrared-filters-choices

after the conversion, the images have softened a bit.. no matter what lens I use the images seem softer than before.. I have used this lens on my Leica SL2 and CL as well.. the images look a tad better there with true colors.. still can’t handle the high resolution of modern cameras I guess

That's not surprising because wavelengths in the ultraviolet band (below about 470 nm) are shorter than those in the rest of the visible spectrum where the camera is designed to focus so the plane of focus that you expect will be at a different place to where the camera expects it to be and the images will look soft.

It's similar (but the opposite) of the adjustment when using an infra-red filter where older lenses had a red "R" engraved on the focus ring to indicate the infra-red adjustment.

To get sharp images you'd need to use manual focus and also experiment to find what the focus offset for your lens is.

Pete.

Didn’t know that.. thank you for that information..

I’ll have to try with other lenses.. I did the best I could with the 500mm R lens already.. with canon’s APS-c crop, it’s close to 800mm at f8.. the view thru the OVF is super wobbly.. will try with a tripod next time..

Yes hand-held I imagine it would be pretty wobbly.  My 280/4 APO-Telyt-R is wobbly enough handheld so effective 800 would be like using it on a roller-coaster.

At that sort of focal length I would have problems even with a tripod!

Focusing is not easy, with very shallow DOF. I have deep respect for professional photographers who used it for earning money in the past.

And I can understand them for buying AF lenses as soon as they were available ...

I use the Telyt as a toy only around the house. On the street, it looks a little scary, with the pistol-grip attached even more so ---
