That means that the camera cannot get information from it. If the card is OK and another card still gives the same problem, the card reader in the camera may be broken, or there might be another problem down the line in the camera, maybe as simple as a flex connector working loose. Send the camera to Leica. Speculating on a forum won't get it working again. Oh no, i can read, erase and format SD card as usual. It works ! RayD28 Posted May 28, 2020 Share #22  Posted May 28, 2020 I had different problems but thought I narrowed it down to either the battery or SD card.  After countless attempts to narrow it down further (firmware update, new SD card, format new SD card, switching batteries (which were new), draining batteries and starting with a new charge, etc.), Jaap said something to the effect of 'quit fiddling with the damn thing and send it to Leica'.  Best advice I could get.  Sent, fixed, and returned in three weeks.  They replaced the motherboard. Haven't had a problem in the last four years.  My two cents.  Ray

I can not send it right now. Motherboad replacement is very expensive

kwailo Posted May 28, 2020 Share #25 Â Posted May 28, 2020 I had exactly the same problem 2 weeks ago with my Leica M-P 240. I fixed it by removing the SD card and saving the firmware 2.0.5.0 on the SD card. Then I put the SD card back in the camera and went through the firmware install process. After that everything was fine. The firmware file is called "M_240-2.0.5.0-CUSTOMER.FW" you will find it on the Leica website.

Are you saying you had firmware 2.0.6.0 installed and having reverted to 2.0.5.0 it corrected the issue. If so does this imply there’s an issue with firmware issue 2.0.6.0? kwailo Posted May 28, 2020 Share #29 Â Posted May 28, 2020 Yes. My previous firmware was 2.0.6.0. I have two Leica M-P 240s and one Leica M 240. On all cameras I had firmware 2.0.6.0 installed. About three months after installing the latest firmware one of the M-P 240 ran into the same problems you described above and I fixed the problem by reverting to firmware 2.0.5.0. I am not a programmer and cannot confirm whether this is a firmware bug. I can recommend that you revert to firmware 2.0.5.0 before handing your camera over to the Leica Service Center.

I’ve been lazy and not bothered with the FW update, and now I’m more inclined than ever to stay with 2.0.5.0. It does beg the question however why there aren’t many more users reporting issues with 2.0.6.0.
lct Posted May 29, 2020 Share #31 Â Posted May 29, 2020 This thread is 2 years old folks. Firmware 2.0.6.0 was not in use yet. Was firmware 2.0.5.0, the one you are reverting to .

david strachan Posted May 29, 2020 Share #34  Posted May 29, 2020 Don't subscribe to auto-upgrades, if i can help it. The list of fixes should be looked at...it may just be a new lens software fix...which one may not need. Some say other bugs, not specified, are fixed, well perhaps, but why not say so in the upgrade notes?... So many upgrades...always. I used to get excited by electronica when i started computers 30 years ago...now very wary. Good luck with fix, should be relatively easy. ... Cuongle Posted June 18, 2020 Share #35  Posted June 18, 2020 I fixed this! The problem happend when i plug 135mm old version Leica len into body M240. Solution: - Take out batTery 2-3 days - Recharge battery to full - Reinstall firmware ( remember to hold info button when you INSERT battery again- then turn camera on) - Then it works!  Thanks all. I ve fixed twice :))

I ve fixed twice :)) This exact problem is happening to my M240 now. It got fixed after leaving the battery out for a couple of days to drain the internal one and allow the camera to reset itself. It's happening again now though, so currently letting the internal battery drain again. I'm worried it might be dying, and that I might have to send it to Leica. How is yours holding up after doing the procedure twice?
jdlaing Posted July 16, 2021 Share #37  Posted July 16, 2021 There is no electronic contact whatsoever between M lens and M body so I can’t see what caused the problem.

I doubt that was the problem. It seems to be something to do with the internal battery screwing up the software.
