Not sure why APS-C owners would be miffed about the launch of any FF camera but the LR's June statement with a link to a lack of news from April does not sound that emphatic to me. YMMV.

well, a small-form FF mirrorless camera taking L lenses would be an obvious, not inevitable, but obvious alternative for any APS-C owner, with the exception of those wanting the extra focal length for birding, etc.

yes, the link is to the lenses, not the camera but that could just be a mistake. and since then, LR has quite emphatically restated his claim:

The last construction phase of Leitz Park is now completed. You can visit the new building complex on Sunday, June 17th. I think the official opening will happen a few days before that, together with the announcement of the rumored Leica C-M mirrorless camera and possibly a few other new products (see the full list of expected products here).

I was going to say too: one thing IS certain – if a new camera appears Mr Huff will rave about it.

Well if this specific rumour turns out to be true there will be many others raving about it as well. I doubt it will happen this time, but I think it's inevitable within next year or two.

So he bought the SL again 2 weeks ago? Then I suggest he’s all Huff puff. Why would he rebuy the 3 year old SL two weeks ago but not wait just a little longer. He’s having wet dreams over the mooted CM which ‘is real, and will be amazing’. He clearly has no inside knowledge of this, just what’s just been posted on Leica Rumors. Edited by MarkP

Well, he would, wouldn't he?

I bet it will be the best camera since Daguerre...

BTW, how does one salvage for years?

I think he was going for salivating there......... as in drooling over the prospect...... rinse out now

Early adopter of the SL as well here and did grind my teeth when the body price dropped so much later on. IF this rumoured CM appears, I don't think it will be competing directly with the CL, certainly not on price. I can't imagine that it would sell for less than the SL or M10 for example. Again IF it appears, it might be the 'more elegant, less axe! SL that Dr Kaufmann mentioned in his earlier interview, and supplant the SL body in the range all together.

I got the petite CL as a travel camera anyway and it seems to me the new Summicron SL lenses might coexist nicely on there too.

My Leica dealer who must be in the top 10 for volume globally is 80% confident that this camera is for real and will be announced this week in Germany. I'm first in line if the camera gets announced. As an M10 owner, this new CM is my dream camera (M shaped body with external control dials, FF, and a good EVF).

49mm would be tight, indeed. The user in post #2192 here https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/261949-leica-sl-or-hasselblad-x1d/page-110 thinks it's 51mm.

The 48.8mm is from Wikipedia.

I would guess 51mm is probably the outer diameter, which IMHO isnt really of interest.

I think the L mount offers plenty space for any optic for 36x24mm and was designed for this even when the Leica T was released, but Leica never planned to support 45x30mm as well.
