Advertisement Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Hi Fgcm, Take a look here Time for a new M to be announced at Photokina?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Chaemono Posted May 19, 2018 Share #42 Posted May 19, 2018 More so than ever. This year will be the year of MF at Leica. Wait and see.
Bill W Posted May 20, 2018 Share #43 Posted May 20, 2018 I am totally happy with my M10 and look forward to the SL2 whenever it arrives.
cp995 Posted May 21, 2018 Share #44 Posted May 21, 2018 ... Leica makes the finest lenses on the market, but camera bodies lag behind Sony ones... Mmh, just checked the Sony offering completely, but didn't find any digital RF camera! So Sony can't be in a competition with Leica M. Leica SL ist the comparable area for Sony ... onasj Posted May 21, 2018 Share #45 Posted May 21, 2018 It seems that Leica is likely to announce an S update rather than an M update at photokina 2018. I hope I’m mistaken but multiple signs suggest otherwise.

Check their lens offerings as well. Different systems with different strengths and weaknesses.

otto.f Posted May 21, 2018 Share #49 Posted May 21, 2018 The sentiments of many here that the M10 is good enough makes me wonder if Leica is near (not at) its pinnacle M. . Or over its pinnacle, I love my M9 and Monochrome1 with Mandler lenses more than I did my M10 with Karbe lenses

pgk Posted May 22, 2018 Share #51 Posted May 22, 2018 (edited) After long and difficult deliberation and negotiation I can reveal that a an 'inside source' has admitted that a major alteration is going to be made. The engraving will feature a major name change as the distinctive, existing '0' will be replaced by a '1' but in all other ways the camera will remain identical to its predecessor, thus providing a new model for those who must have it, and at the same time satisfying the traditionalists. . There will of course be the usual flurry of reviews and comparisons when the camera is launched but I am confident that nobody will find anything inferior to the existing model. It will be fascinating to see how they manage to accomplish this (how to satisify both traditionalists and new M users who have been waiting for EVF based M-mount camera).
Linford Posted May 22, 2018 Share #53 Posted May 22, 2018 I don't need anymore temptation!!! However, an M10 M-D or Mono would be tempting....--lt
Le Chef Posted May 22, 2018 Share #54 Posted May 22, 2018 Leica have sneaked out a piece of under cover social media that reveals the new "M" model will be in the product placement spotlight of the new "Spinal Tap II" movie. The band gets back together for one last tour to crank up the volume for diehard fans whose hearing loss has now become acute. The band's official photographer, Karbe Mandler, uses the new Leica "M" whose model number matches that of the movie. We live in exciting times! Tailwagger Posted May 31, 2018 Share #57 Posted May 31, 2018 Hmmm... something is up. First, theres the pending announcement on the 14th which LR claims is a new mirrorless design, but more interestingly BH, perhaps others, all of a sudden has the 240 and MP at $1000 off. Conclude what you will, but perhaps theres a new FF coming of one sort or another.
Ko.Fe. Posted May 31, 2018 Share #58 Posted May 31, 2018 Just like they did with Minolta, collaboration with another manufacturer to make small, true RF camera. This time with MFT sensor and have someone like 7A make lenses for it. Leica could make OVF/RF with KMZ and they could call it as Zenit. But it could be Barnack sized and shaped. I wouldn’t buy a Russian made body, and do we really need MFT in addition to all the bodies released by leica in the last 3 years. Leica has to continue making Leica Cameras and lenses. Once production is given to outside companies, it would be the beginning of the end. There’s a huge difference between the leica / Panasonic product and the pure Leica product. IMHO.
