How are you finding the Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm for scanning using the BEOON; does the extra reach of the lens translate into more control in the column height of the BEOON, eg the column not being at the bottom and therefor offering very little room for adjusting either side of critical focus?

Steve,

It was not as easy as with 50mm lenses.

Tries and errors ...

I had a doubt on the curve field of my 50mm Focotar (in fact not true), so I tried to use other lenses for FF slides on the 1:1 carrier.

With another 60mm S-Planar (direct focus to 1:1 if need be), I took time to experimentations, then I found a setting which works well : Beoon + adapter for the lens in use.

Set the focus ring to about 1:1.5 on the S-Planar, then on column set to about 1:2, then tried focussing to have focus without changing the ratio about 1:1 .

With the 60mm Macro-Elmarit-R, like here, I just use Macro-Adapter-R (14198 or 14256) with the lens then set the same about 1:1.5 on the lens and 1:2 on the column.

Have fun 😉...

Thanks a.noctilux for explaining how it works for you. I may look for a 60mm enlarging lens, I’ve found with the 50mm Schneider the column is on minimum setting and runs out of adjustment. Works ok with my 50mm 1.4 asph, but as explained by member Doug in the film thread (there’s a thread there started by Robert Blue asking for BEOON pre-purchase advice) there’s a difference between enlarging and camera lenses that some (ie most) fail to realise, and like me waste a lot of money experimenting.
