I would like to be there provided my health permits. 30 June is fine with me. I may not be able to cope with the walking but I am sure that I could drive instead. Hopefully I could also visit a friend in Brussels.

Gerry

Comig by train would be an option - the railway is a lot cheaper and better than you are used to.

I got quite fond of train travel lately, one of the best places to work, in my experience.

The issue is, trusting Deutsche Bahn to reach a connection with 4 min changing time is sort of russian roulette. In Japan, I would do it immediately and would even set my watch to the departing train...

Stephan,

4 minutes 'grace' for the change at Deventer seems very tight by current British railways performance but I suspect that it's quite adequate when trains run on time and if you only have to cross the platform (although 'in' on platform 3a and 'out' on platform 1 sadly makes this seem unlikely).

I plan to come by train from London with changes at Bruxelles Midi and Roosendahl I think.  (It all depends whether Eurostar will have started running directly to Amsterdam by then as they have proposed.)

Pete.

Please count me in Paulus!

To raise the appetite I add one photo from close to Oortjeshekken and another one from the Rhine Bridge (called Waal Bridge in Nijmegen).

We currently have high water but in June it will look a bit different I am sure!

The water has risen this week, now I understand the " don't walk here sign on the stairs to " Veur Lent " . The water has flooded the green. And still some pictures of Oortjeshekken ( I shurely do hope you can find a room here ) :

Stefan, Deventer is never a problem. The train tends to wait ( the only one in the Netherlands) on the international IC from Germany. The bigger problem is Osnabrück. The train tends to be always late because of ICE problems on the other side of Germany.  The " Viersen " - way is much reliable IMEO may be a little longer. ( You plan Hamburg - Venlo ICE and change trains in Venlo to take the Arriva stoptrain directly to Nijmegen ( 53 minutes )

Garry, it's really no problem to rent a bike for you at NS.Railway station, I would gladly do that for you. It's only € 2,50 for a whole day, and you can ride along with us, if you grow tired, if you want to walk, I just take the bike myself.. The fun in Nijmegen is, that it is a little bit hilly, but never much. The first two kilometers of the route are down, the next two also. The bridge has a special very smooth bicycle path and the rest of the route also. ( I use it al the time ) so if you cab ride a bike, you should manage.

I pick up Clemens (X2 Neuling) from Duisburg Main Station and then we drive by car to Nijmegen. If You would come to Duisburg, I can pick You up too.

But we cannot stay for dinner. We have to leave about 18.00 to 19.00 h.

So maybe, you can ask politely if a view in the building is possible at 11:30 that 30.June. I notice that there was some reluctance, so maybe your question would help?
