photophile Posted October 30, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 30, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Chesapeake Bay, once known for its abundance of oysters or "Orsters" as they are locally called, is now trying to make a comeback through aquaculture and oyster farming. Here, a local "waterman" brings in a small wild oyster harvest. Most of the crop these days, is farm raised. The resurgence of the wild crop and the viability of the farmed ones, is a testament to improving water conditions. The improvements may be short lived however, if the EPA standards on pollution and nitrogen runoff from massive farming are let slide. M8 classic, 50 cron, polarizer. BW conv in LR. david strachan Posted October 30, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2017 Nice pic Coos. The framing sets a local environment, and the movement adds too. Very acceptable B&W with a straight conversion. all best...
david strachan Posted October 30, 2017 Share #4 Posted October 30, 2017 (edited) I've looked at your stories of Richard's face reconstruction...now my comments look trite. Congratulations to all..you, the medical team, and Richards amazing recovery...and the donor. I'm struck by the humanity ... stuny Posted October 30, 2017 Share #5 Posted October 30, 2017 Terrific shots, Coos, but I too worry about fertilizer run-off (also one of the things damaging coral reefs), and what the EPA may or may not do.
photophile Posted November 27, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted November 27, 2017 David, Stuart - thank you. David, Richard is doing well. The donor family gave such a gift to so many...infinite beauty to some through such depth of pain for others. Best, Coos

geetee1972 Posted December 11, 2017 Share #9 Posted December 11, 2017 Have a look at this chap's work: https://philkneen.wordpress.com/2017/11/29/all-in-the-mind/ He lives on the Isle of Man (in the Irish Sea) and has been documenting the lives of the local fisherman and trawler fleets for some time. It resonates with your images here.
photophile Posted December 17, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted December 17, 2017 Dan: The M8 really does convert B&W with grace. This was, I believe, 320...I have coaxed it up to 1250 with usable (A3 print) results...but the exposure must be spot on. Thanks. Best, Coos
