The Chesapeake Bay, once known for its abundance of oysters or "Orsters" as they are locally called, is now trying to make a comeback through aquaculture and oyster farming. Here, a local "waterman" brings in a small wild oyster harvest. Most of the crop these days, is farm raised. The resurgence of the wild crop and the viability of the farmed ones, is a testament to improving water conditions. The improvements may be short lived however, if the EPA standards on pollution and nitrogen runoff from massive farming are let slide.
