Soden Posted April 5, 2017 Share #61 Posted April 5, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you want ultimate protection, the Billingham rucksack 25 is pretty close to perfection. It's got a half inch frame of pure padding, but it's far from small. However any bag that has a removable insert can be enhanced with a couple of Novoflex wraps. Advertisement Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Hi Soden, Take a look here Looking for the smallest bag to hold a 3-lens m-240 set?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ru2far2c Posted April 5, 2017 Share #62 Posted April 5, 2017 This a bag i converted in camera bag. It's a Cole Haan man bag. Picked up at an outlet store years ago a for 65$. It does not have any padding to speak of that's why the lens are in there own little pouches. It has a little pocket in side for some little extras. It's 8in (20cm) x 12in (30cm). When empty it lays flat as in photo and expand to 5.5in (14cm). For me a great walk around bag. M240, 50mm mounted, 21mm w/Viewfinder and 35mm. Can get my Kindle in it as well. Welcome, dear visitor! Rich_H Posted April 10, 2017 Share #63 Posted April 10, 2017 The Oberwerth Freiburg is working well for me. It's the smallest bag I could find w/padding that will hold an M-P body plus 21 mm, 28 mm, 50 mm and 90 mm. This is a lot of kit for a relatively small bag! To make it work, I use the Optech neoprene lens cases because they are compact and don't have snaps, velcro or anything non-essential that might scratch or waste space. They are perfect and relatively cheap. They are way smaller than the Leica pouches that come with Leica lenses. In the main bag, I have three sections: On one side, I have a divider for just the 90 mm lens. The 90 mm goes in oriented so one end of the lens is facing down. On the opposite side, the divider holds two of the shorter lenses∏typically the 21 mm SEM and the 28 mm Summicron. These short lenses go into the compartment oriented on their side, with one on top of the other. The camera body and the lense of choice go in the middle section, lens facing down. There is enough room in the bottom of the mid-section to safely store a couple of filters. Make no mistake; this is a tight fit but it actually works pretty well. The shorter lenses (laying sideways) are in there pretty snug. It's easy to grab the neoprene pouch and pull them out, though. One other advantage of the Oberwerth bag is the flexibility of being able to pull the padded liner out of the main camera bag. Then, it may go into a backpack or motorcycle tank bag. It also use the liner in a ratty old non-descript messenger-style gear bag I might use in a dodgey part of town. Aside from the price, my only complaint about the Oberwerth bags is, they look stylish enough to be confused with a woman's purse. This may bother some people but it shouldn't—it's just a very well-made bag doing its job. As of yesterday, the Leica store in Bellevue, Washington was running a sale on Oberwerth and other bags. They will ship, too. Good luck, and share with us what you finally decide to purchase.
medusa Posted April 10, 2017 Share #64 Posted April 10, 2017 I use an Aunts and Uncles Miles Hunter vintage brown Postbag with an Ciesta M insert. It fits perfecty an you will have enough space for a camera and 3 lenses. This combination has made my Oberwerth Bayreuth obsolete (which I just sell...) I do not have original pictures from the Aunts and Uncles available, but I can upload on request. Welcome, dear visitor! sml_photo Posted April 10, 2017 Share #65 Posted April 10, 2017 I've been very happy and content with the Billingham Hadley Small. I'm able to carry the camera with lens and three additional lenses. Also room for batteries, etc. The bag itself is very light. And I think it's a nice looking bag, too!

w44neg Posted April 13, 2017 Author Share #68 Posted April 13, 2017 Update: so after searching for the smallest bag, one comment on here rang true in regards to not having room for extras such as maps and drinks. I purchased a Tenba Slim 13 bag which is the size of my 13" MacBook and it's really handy having the extra space, especially as I'm currently away traveling. It fits my MP Safari with a lens, and three other lenses, although I'm trying to take only three in total. I also purchased a very small bag for just the camera and lenses but didn't have room in my case to pack it, so I just have the Tenba with me. It'll be a good test to see if it's better having this size of bag.

DaveNC Posted May 1, 2017 Share #72 Posted May 1, 2017 FWIW, like many of you, I have a lot of camera bags. A lot. My wife says I "may have a problem". Anyway, my latest favorite bag for my Leica and up to three lenses is the Domke F-8 Small Shoulder Bag- Ruggedwear (Brown). Just enough bag and looks good (to me). sblutter Posted May 3, 2017 Share #73 Posted May 3, 2017 For street shooting, long ago I observed I shoot a lot more if the camera's slung naked over my shoulder during a session (with auto-off set to 10 minutes). I was missing too many opportunities fumbling with a bag. Jackets with sturdy pockets work for me. 1 contrasting additional lens (e.g. mounted 50 with a 21 or 75, sometimes 40c / 90 thin) + chips, ND, polarizer and 1 battery in pockets. Macro mount too, very small. And of course, a clean handkerchief Since I'm printing a lot in B&W for personal work, camera is set to DNG + jpg film/B&W If I'm carrying a bag, its going to be a carbon full height tripod at night. 6lbs total, noise eliminated - a very big deal to me. For travel, fits in a suitcase with the head detached -- For professional work, obviously a very different story. Strobes, stands, cords etc etc - and hopefully an assistant!
