Jeff S Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1121 Posted May 16, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The other part seems to be only supplying small shops with M10's and no big vendors which has made it harder to get for a lot of people who don't live near a camera store. If there was any initial priority, it seems to have been Leica owned stores. Otherwise, big vendors are getting cameras, but that's offset by long wait lists. Small stores may not be getting any greater share, but often there is little or no wait, which is why I've always recommended aggressively calling them if one has an urgency. I did just that when the price increase was announced and found two in a couple of days, one dealer willing to trade a fair amount on my M240. Neither dealer had received many cameras, but there was no line. BTW, neither store was near me...but just a phone call away. Foxtwo Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1125 Posted May 16, 2017 Leica Cameraland ? J/k Those places bid on well handled and used demos from the big box stores that are full of scratches, dents and drool from lookie loos. No need to worry though, I'm sure they buffed it out with some fine 0000 steel wool and touched it up with genuine Krylon that sort of matches. Your camera will probably work fine, depending upon how many times it was dropped. Those Boston Leica try for a day programs for butterfingered customers are awesome! Zacillac Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1126 Posted May 16, 2017 Just an FYI for anyone in the Seattle area: Glazer's has a list but it is considerably shorter if you pay off the camera in advance. I'm number three for a black camera from only a week ago (paid off) but if you just want to get on the wait list there's at least another 12 in front of you on that list. I'm now just playing the waiting game and crossing my fingers that the estimate I was given will hold up (no big deal if not, but great if it does). They told me at least four months for a black version about six weeks ago. Don't know if it reflected the pre-pay option, which is not worth it for me. Eric1 Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1128 Posted May 16, 2017 Leica Cameraland....it would be illegal to sell a Leica m10 that was used or demo'd as New. Plus you can always check the manufactured date. If it was made months ago and not a few weeks you'd know something was wrong.

I have no idea where this is coming from. I bought my silver M10 from CameraLand and the camera itself came straight from Leica NJ. Eric1 Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1130 Posted May 16, 2017 Was the camera you got from cameraland totally new and made within the time frame you ordered it?
Foxtwo Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1131 Posted May 16, 2017 Was the camera you got from cameraland totally new and made within the time frame you ordered it? Nervous? I am totally kidding and am sure you will get a perfectly new and flawless camera. Maybe. I just left BH to check a few things on the M10. Very nice, and it read/writes the Sandisk 64G 95 mb/sec card I had in my little M5. Tried it with the visioflex and the 50 and 90 mm lenses. Pretty sweet. Think it will be awhile from BH, but I am not willing to spend more to get one sooner. I'll be at Glazer's in a few days and may inquire about their pay in advance policy, but it would be a lot more expensive all things considered. Sure you will all be happy, the quality of this little critter is impressive. Feels solid and substantial. Worth the wait.
Eric1 Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1132 Posted May 16, 2017 Ok. Lol, of course I'm nervous, its an expensive camera, I dont want to get ripped off. Im glad it's cool though, can't wait to use it.
Eric1 Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1133 Posted May 16, 2017 I checked with Cameraland and they said the Leica is new and ships direct from Leica. So unless Leica is involved in some scheme it seems totally legit.
Eric1 Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1134 Posted May 16, 2017 By the way, I work in the legal field and everybody should know that in the U.S. at least you can be sued for defrauding a customer. So, I highly doubt any business would engage in such a practice
Jk1002 Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1135 Posted May 16, 2017 Camerand is actualy an authorized Leica dealer, I do find it funny why they were pushed on here so much but giving that they are authorized by Leica should be OK

So, I highly doubt any business would engage in such a practice Canon has shut down several NYC based stores selling grey market gear using up selling pressure for swapping out supposedly inferior accessories over the past year. They would low ball, then try to get buyers to pay extra to "replace" things like cheap Chinese made battery chargers that were exactly what Canon included normally. This situation isn't applicable, but they are out there and can be difficult for a single consumer to negotiate if something goes south. Do your due diligence as always. 6bit Posted May 17, 2017 Share #1139 Posted May 17, 2017 I officially canceled my Black M10 with B&H yesterday. My M10 has cleared German customs and is expected to be here Monday.
Eric1 Posted May 17, 2017 Share #1140 Posted May 17, 2017 Cameraland says it ships from Leica New Jersey...which Im assuming is a licensed dealer. Yes, I am sure there are shady businesses that exist out there but for a New Prodcut, Like M10, I don't see how it would be grey market product already. Worst case scenario, you just inform your credit card company that your not paying the charge because the company was deceptive. I think no matter where you get camera gear, BH Photo, Germany, Local Store, etc. you should make sure the product is new. Never assume anything is official until you ask.
