jaques Posted October 3, 2012 Share #202 Posted October 3, 2012 yes- that one does seem to work well- the problem with some of the first shots: the steritar was taped to the lens hood in an a un-scientific fashion and was not level with the camera or the subject... and I am using a 28mm and a 90mm when the steritar is designed for a 50... so it is creating un-natural perspectives To adjust for this the viewer needs to adjust the viewing distance and tilt their heads and go extra cross eyed... JeffoJeffo Posted October 4, 2012 Share #205 Posted October 4, 2012 Sharing this Angenieux S 50mm f1.8 with Leica M- Monochrom. This lens is what they call a pre S1 and S2...it's uncoated and I find it very good with B&W. Welcome, dear visitor! brianv Posted October 6, 2012 Share #211 Posted October 6, 2012 (edited) The early Nikkor 5cm F1.4's, those marked "Tokyo" and some of the early ones marked "Japan" are a different "optical prescription" from those that followed. The serial number cutoff is somewhere in the 33xxxx range. The optics and fixtures of the early lenses have a smaller diameter, not much- but there. The Bokeh is not as harsh as the later lenses. I discovered this when trying to replace the badly dented filter raing of a 5005 series lens with one from a 33x lens. The front optic passed through the fixture. My personal opinion: the Nikon S has a 34mmx24mm image area. The S2 went to 36mmx24mm. I think they increased the diameter to lessen vignetting of the new camera. Ran across another Sonnar: Rollei A26 feautured a 40mm F3.5 Sonnar. For $10, picked it up and will find out if the lens can be pulled out as a unit. farnz Posted October 6, 2012 Author Share #212 Posted October 6, 2012 For the record, my Nikkor 5cm f/1.4 is 5005xxxx. Pete.
hydet Posted October 6, 2012 Share #213 Posted October 6, 2012 Two from a 1955 Letiz Wetzlar Elmar 5cm f/3.5 "red scale" collapsible on my M9. Both wide open, which is probably the only way I would ever use this little lens. What fun this thread is...though it is proving to be expensive, what with my new lust for Zunows and Argenieux and the like. Welcome, dear visitor! brianv Posted October 6, 2012 Share #215 Posted October 6, 2012 The "5005" batch is the first for the Nikkor 5cm F1.4, May 1950. My 5005 series lens came attached to a Nikon M with sync. The glass was in good condition, but the front filter ring had been badly bent up. I straightened it out, and put a series VI adapter on it.

JeffoJeffo Posted October 7, 2012 Share #217 Posted October 7, 2012 Thanks Mark. Yes, perhaps you had seen it some where else... ^^ this Angenieux S2 50/1.8 is one of my favor~~~ Attached one old brass Ross London Petzval 6" f3.5 (no iris) lens that I tried on S2 body. Will test more when have time but I already like what I see. Welcome, dear visitor! MarkP Posted October 7, 2012 Share #218 Posted October 7, 2012 (edited) Jeff, I had suddenly desired an Angenieux 50/1.8. However, $4000-5000 for the lenses currently on sale on ePay had the same effect on me as a bucket of cold water:rolleyes:. BTW, how are you mounting these old lenses on the Leicas Mark Edited October 7, 2012 by MarkP
