Honestly, if you need to ask … well, you should know the rest.

Another example of "Finding the answer to a question that no one ever asked". Leica first introduced a hot shoe in 1971 and now, 51 years later, people feel that a hot shoe cover is essential. It is a good thing that there so many gullible people about so that firms like Kanto can build up their profits. Obviously it is a very different matter with digital Ms as the hot shoe contains all these rather delicate EVF contacts. Oh well.

Because I do not use it unless using my pocketwizards. Aesthetically, it looks more pleasing with it covered up. If I did not care for aesthetics, I would not be buying a black paint MP.

But why?

I bought 2 of these , one in black paint and one in chrome and really like how they look on the camera.  That's all really and I generally use a hotshot cover on my M10-D for the same reason.  At USD20 something they didn't break the bank so not really a big deal either way :D

For anyone wondering, these are a very snug/perfect fit and the paint on both matches the camera very well (the chrome being an exact match, and the BP being close enough)

Two weeks today I pick up my MP from the store in London. VERY EXCITED to say the least.

I went back and forth on a possible strap but can't yet decide if I want a very short, wear it like a necklace strap or if I want something a bit more flexible and longer.

I use a 26 inch strap. Makes my rig into neck candy.

I have a MP BP on order for delivery perhaps next month. While I sit here dreaming, can someone tell me what strap it comes with now? The 14312? A leather strap?

You’ll find it comes with a leather strap now, enjoy they’re brilliant.

Thanks, that was what I wondered. The 14312 is OK (I have spare one anyway), but a bit more width would be useful.

Interestingly the MP strap is now very similar to the M10’s and M11’s, however, my new M6 has a different design in that it’s wider, has the Leica name and also the ring protectors are part of the strap design. I like it the best out of all the M straps past and current.
