How do you like the 18mm on the MP?

I only have a 35 at the moment and definitely want a wider lens...was comparing options at 21, 24, 25, and 28 and was concerned with the wider lenses that I'd lose too much of my ability to frame a shot.

I am not sure yet! I got the Super-Elmar 1:3.8 18mm at the time I purchased the camera. The Summilux 1:1.4 35mm I had with my M9 and thats what I typically shot with on the M9. I am keen to see how the 18 does. Then again, since I have not shot with film in a few decades, I will be keen to see how I do with film all the same!

This is my MP with Tri-Elmar 16-18-21

For now I can frame fairly well at 21mm using a 21mm Voigtländer or Leica finder.

I was out doing some street photography while traveling this weekend. At one point I asked a friend to take a photo of me with my MP. He looked at the camera, looked at me and then pulled his camera phone out of his pocket and said “this is all I know how to do”. We both laughed.

Now I need to get some film developed :)

Well hey, if you're giving it away, I can definitely promise a good home for it!  She's a beauty.

Sadly, I suspect you'll want more than I can offer for it.  I've been scoping out the various vintages of the 28mm Elmarit to fill my wide angle needs, hoping to find a good deal.  I'm traveling to Morocco in May so whatever happens, I need something by then.

...today I will send back this new camera.

It has a strong and obvious BACKFOCUS - absolutely NOT acceptable at a NEW camera.

Leica'a Marekting is NOT true - this is NOT a PERCET camera!

Best,

Jens

My MP has been perfect since 2005.

Definitely send it back, Leica will make good on the warranty, they may even give you an entirely new camera if you bought it so recently. Rangefinder alignment is easy to fix, although it is unusual that it came like that when you got it. Rangefinder calibration is tested before it goes in the box.
