That's the benefit of having the M262 and other derivatives available though, and not an reason to remove features from the M that some people find useful. Removing features can represent simplicity for some but adds complexity for others. It's a personal matter of how you use your camera.

cirke Posted January 16, 2017 Share #1782 Posted January 16, 2017 Huge tripod? I carry a light Novoflex walking stick that doubles as a monopod and it does just fine. Wedge it against a branch or gate etc. and it is completely stable, novoflex-quadroleg-wandelstok-ii.jpg same ! but a Leki

I like the fact that Leica offers such derivatives and makes everyone happy I for instance would rather go for the M10 Lite whenever it is introduced since I now have the 262 and am very satisfied with it. John Black Posted January 16, 2017 Share #1788 Posted January 16, 2017 Curious as to why there is an IR filter on the lens. Just because the user is hyper sensitive to IR? Or... back to IR filters...?...
jaapv Posted January 16, 2017 Share #1789 Posted January 16, 2017 He is simply being smart - they are on all my lenses on the M240. Any thin filter stack camera will have some degree of IR sensitivity.
luigi bertolotti Posted January 16, 2017 Share #1790 Posted January 16, 2017 Sorry for the trivial question... but I have read just now (for the first time), the Leica invitation to the event of 18/19... is it sure that a new product intro is part of the event ? Maybe I have missed something...

Peter H Posted January 16, 2017 Share #1796 Posted January 16, 2017 M10 after 10 years of digital and back to the classic roots. SIMPLICITY. Can't wait! M is M again. For people which need video, EVF etc. please adopt the SL or Q. Having used M cameras for well over 30 years, I have no intention of switching to a large SL or a fixed lens Q, neither of which offer an optical viewfinder/rangefinder, just because some people don't like a button on their M that is so easy to ignore that it's possible to forget it even exists, or a detachable EVF which, when not attached is undetectable. Thanks for the invitation, which I respectfully decline.

JonPB Posted January 16, 2017 Share #1798 Posted January 16, 2017 So there will be no "M10 in Africa" articles . Perhaps you could use the M10 as a gimbal counterweight for the DG Vario-Elmar kit, thereby justifying the "M10 in Africa" title and continuing your enjoyable series? Well, that notwithstanding, you also seem to always include some wonderful people and context photos that would be suited to the M10, even if they aren't proper safari shots. So, don't let it be the end of those. Actually, it just occurred to me that it could be a rather profitable strategy, if aggressively anti-customer, to release the M-262++ model as the M10 now, and then once sales slow down release the M-240++ model with video et al and reap multiple sales to the same customers. The opposite of this, of course, would be to do the customer-friendly thing, and announce the M10 as well as the M10 ala carte program that returns to multiple finder magnification as well as optional video, Monochrom, and finishes -- all available for immediate queueing in the manufacturing process. But. What dreams may come. Cheers, Jon
