ianman Posted September 18, 2019 Share #528 Posted September 18, 2019 (edited) Yes but a thread called "Show us some Mandler effect that occurs under specific and rare circumstances" wouldn't have the same ...errr.... je ne sais quoi ! evikne Posted September 18, 2019 Share #529 Posted September 18, 2019 I can see the "Mandler effect" in most pictures here, especially when shot wide open. But I think many people have their own interpretation of what it is. I would like a thread where members pointed out exactly where in the picture they thought the Mandler effect was, and tried to explain why they think this part is special. But these things are certainly not easy to put into words.

I can understand why you would like such a thread but I worry that it would deteriorate into subjective opinions about elements of the pictures and what non-Mandler lenses offer that Mandler lenses don't etc. However there's nothing stopping you from starting such a thread yourself although I recommend making it quite clear in the opening post what the thread is about, what is wanted and what is not wanted and gently nudging it from time to time, if needed, to keep it on track. otto.f Posted September 19, 2019 Share #533 Posted September 19, 2019 55 minutes ago, farnz said: subjective opinions What’s not subjective here? Members are even asking for (inter)subjectivity. There are great differences between people, for instance in how they react to ‘scientifically’ proven effective medicines, a fact that is being recognized more and more lately in the search for what medicine fits best for what type of person. Peoples eyes are very different too. In both cases mental factors are also involved. ‘Reality’ without conception does not exist. ‘Mandler’ is also a concept. It’s very usefull to be explicit and concrete about the Mandlerishness of an image.
evikne Posted September 19, 2019 Share #534 Posted September 19, 2019 On Flickr and other places there is the opportunity to add notes directly on the pictures. That would have been a very nice feature in this forum as well. But I guess that is probably not feasible.

Maarten Posted October 30, 2019 Share #539 Posted October 30, 2019 Leica M8 with Summicron 35mm V3. Double magic to me. Probably my best shot with the M8 in terms of lightning, sharpness and texture. And most of all: pure luck (lying on the ground, trying to focus, no live-view). Welcome, dear visitor!
