Peter H Posted May 24, 2018 Share #941 Posted May 24, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) It was perfectly clear Peter... more so as you even mentioned it was to do with the way it handles colours. Have you got your Summaron yet? (I seem to remember you writing you had one on order?) Yes, I've got it now. Just looking forward to using it properly. I've had a play with it in the garden and around the house and I'm quite excited about it. I'll post a few pictures soon.

ianman Posted June 6, 2018 Share #952 Posted June 6, 2018 (edited) Very nice. Quit tempting me please (i don't need that Summaron, i don't need that Summaron, i don't need that Summaron...). I need it, but luckily I have it Without hesitation I would say if I could have only one lens, this would be it. Here's another I took a couple of weeks ago, I just caught a horrible flare blob one this one... and it's too far in to crop out ! lct Posted June 6, 2018 Share #953 Posted June 6, 2018 [...] I just caught a horrible flare blob one this one... [...] At last, a good reason not to buy that lens, thank you ianman
ianman Posted June 6, 2018 Share #954 Posted June 6, 2018 I was kinda asking for that blob though... trying out what I could and couldn't do. I think this is really the first instance where I have got one.
lct Posted June 6, 2018 Share #955 Posted June 6, 2018 Too late hehe... Just kidding, a lot of lenses do that. Veiling flare is moderate at least.

wattsy Posted June 6, 2018 Share #957 Posted June 6, 2018 (edited) I think this is really the first instance where I have got one. I get the little green "blob" quite a lot when the sun is within the frame. I think it is largely unavoidable under those circumstances and it has never bothered me. wattsy Posted June 6, 2018 Share #958 Posted June 6, 2018 I'm not sure where there sweet spot lies in terms of "sun in frame" and avoiding "green blob" but don't tend to see it if the sun is at the edge of the frame. What I do know is that most of my ASPH lenses flare much more noticeably than the Summaron-M and it is the flare resistance which is why I use the latter.
wattsy Posted June 6, 2018 Share #959 Posted June 6, 2018 embrace the blob (and the flare) I've never encountered this circular flare. Are you are using a filter on your lens?
mp58 Posted June 6, 2018 Share #960 Posted June 6, 2018 For those of you who own (or have used) both the thread mount version of the 28 Summaron and the current M-mount version, is there a difference in image quality that would make you choose the newer lens? If you do have the older lens, is the hood completely necessary? Thanks for your answers.
