David_English Posted May 6, 2018 Share #922 Posted May 6, 2018 (edited) Two more from Vegas (with the MM1) I haven’t traveled anywhere else since I purchased the Summaron. Edited May 6, 2018 by David_English

robert blu Posted May 14, 2018 Share #925 Posted May 14, 2018 My wife is very supportive when I "need" a new Leica toy. To thank as usual the first photos have her as subject! She's sitting at my drawing table, iso 400, 1/30 sec., full open on the M10. Welcome, dear visitor! Peter H Posted May 16, 2018 Share #927 Posted May 16, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not to denigrate any of the fine photos in this thread but one of the nicest features of this lens seems to me to be the polite way it handles colour, which comes across both with film and digital cameras, though there are some differences of course.
wattsy Posted May 21, 2018 Share #928 Posted May 21, 2018 Yes, it is a very polite lens. The Thambar-M, on the other hand, is unspeakably rude.
wattsy Posted May 21, 2018 Share #929 Posted May 21, 2018 (edited) Some more (digital) colour. The monument on Cherhill Down in the distance looks like it is about to fall over but I think I can live with a bit of distortion (in truth, I probably had the camera angled from the perpendicular and it has exaggerated the effect). DickieT Posted May 21, 2018 Share #930 Posted May 21, 2018 I ran into a film set in Rome and took this shot with the old 28 Summaron on Portra 400 @ 800 with MP, scanned on Coolscan 5000 Welcome, dear visitor! Hey, that's my territory you are treading on! (But as I'm currently in Spain, I'll forgive you this once...)
Ouroboros Posted May 21, 2018 Share #933 Posted May 21, 2018 Hey, that's my territory you are treading on! (But as I'm currently in Spain, I'll forgive you this once...) Good job he used the polite 28mm instead of the rude 90mm! I’m still trying to work out how a lens can be one or the other, though.
David_English Posted May 21, 2018 Share #934 Posted May 21, 2018 Along the linear scale from polite to rude, the 21mm Summaron/M Monochrom combination would definitely be closer to the polite side. The duo seems to be a natural for digital black-and-white. The Monochrom’s lack of a Beyer filter provides a more analog feel, which the Summaron extends even further for an almost film-like result. Though I haven’t had a chance to fully run it through its paces, I suspect the Summaron will end up being one of my three favorite lenses, along with the 21mm Super-Elmar and 50mm Summilux. For the occasional color shots, I’ve been using a Leica Q. Two more from Vegas

Peter H Posted May 24, 2018 Share #938 Posted May 24, 2018 Good job he used the polite 28mm instead of the rude 90mm! I’m still trying to work out how a lens can be one or the other, though. I used the word "polite" hoping that some people could use their imagination and understand why. It was to do with the restrained and reliable way colours are rendered. Was it really the wrong word to use? Does no one understand what I meant?

ianman Posted May 24, 2018 Share #940 Posted May 24, 2018 It was perfectly clear Peter... more so as you even mentioned it was to do with the way it handles colours. Have you got your Summaron yet? (I seem to remember you writing you had one on order?)
