Advertisement Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Hi @McLeica, Take a look here Leica Film Odyssey for a beginner. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Posted April 17, 2016 Share #742 Posted April 17, 2016 I could care less about the howls or the lynch mob, considering that I've seen some very good work with stand development.
Sandokan Posted April 17, 2016 Share #743 Posted April 17, 2016 What an Odyssey! Nobody tell Neil about slide films for colour. Nobody tell him about the Voigtlander/Fuji 667 iii, where you can shoot at 6x6 or 6x7 but only for the whole roll (no changing in the middle). But I will tell him about having two camera bodies, one loaded with 50 or 100 ISO film for daylight in the sunnier countries and 400 for evenings and night photography. Or even colour in one and B&W in the other. Then he can expand to 4 bodies ... wide angles on one pair and normal or telephotos on the other pair. For his unsatisfactory results - I also think he should look at the exposure when he gets home. Most reliable exposure is an incident reading facing towards the camera. PS reading this from start to finish is like reading a book ... so maybe Neil can now say he has read four books, with one partly authored.

Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted April 18, 2016 Share #745 Posted April 18, 2016 +1 on this, Neil. Noise reduction is programmed for handling digital noise, which is not a factor in film, or (generally) in the scanning process. I suggest leaving it out of the process flow. Mate I agree. Below is my favoriout picture out of the bunch and I dint hit that puppy with anything apart for auto exposure in lightroom and one pass with one of my own presets in SEP When I left home last week I f$%$%d up, I initially told myself "take the M6 to Nigeria and play with it on the rig" That could sound really wrong to someone else outside on the Leica fertinty :) But in the end I decided to take the Q..........that was a f$%k up. I should have taken the M6 with half a dozen rolls of film and snapped away out here, which would have given me something else to look forward to when I get home. Never mind will do next hitch along with my new................. Welcome, dear visitor! Guest Posted April 18, 2016 Share #747 Posted April 18, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've made three offers for this http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINT-HASSELBLAD-503CW-MILLENNIUM-KIT-80MM-PLANAR-T-CF-A12-BACK-BOXED-/151800834274?hash=item235808e8e2:g:6FIAAOSwTapV5veK already outside of eBay but the guy aunt budging Liking "35mm aesthetic," I've never been interested in medium format expect for the Hasselblad 903SWC with its magnificent 38mm f/4.5 lens, roughly equivalent to 21mm in 35mm camera terms. Its was the only camera that I bought on impulse. Four years ago I saw a beautiful, black, mint one at Le Moyen Format in Paris. My intention was to have custom darkroom prints made; but when I got bail to Bangkok I found that the best darkroom printer, whom I knew well, had died in a car crash. The second best printer had gone of to Laos, fowling a girl friend, and hadn't returned. I shot a few rolls and then sold the camera without losing any money on it. The 903SWC has an optical VF in which you can see the bubble level, aperture and shutter speed and focusing scale — there is no rangefinder. If were to see a camera like that again, in the same, like-new condition, I'd be tempted to buy it because of it's wonderful lens. But, probably, I wouldn't as I don't really want to carry around a camera of that size and weight — and, as I said, I really prefer the "35mm aesthetic." For a chick magnet, you cannot beat a Rolleiflex. You can shoot all day with the Hassy in NY or San Fran without a single comment, but the Rollei will get people stopping and talking to you. However, for 6x6 SLR, my preferance is for the Bronica SQAi. I cannot put my finger on it, but it feels easier to focus and use. What I meant was a second body of another M6. Or an MP or M7 or M3 (my favourite for 50mm lenses).

gbealnz Posted April 18, 2016 Share #751 Posted April 18, 2016 Hmmmm, this is getting better and better Neil, a new twist "Medium Format", awesome. I love Rolleis, in fact it is my e bay name, LOL. Not so much the "new" versions, but I' started work with an original "T", back in the late 60's. Man oh man the new ones are not cheap though. Loading film is easier than the M6 though Go for it. earleygallery Posted April 18, 2016 Share #753 Posted April 18, 2016 I've not read this thread for two days and now just a week after buying his first film camera, and M6 and Summilux, and being a bit upset with the results, Neil has bought a Hasselblad! Honestly Neil you should have taken my earlier advice and gone straight to 10X8, or are you saving that for next week? Enjoy the Hassy.

IkarusJohn Posted April 18, 2016 Share #759 Posted April 18, 2016 I had a 503cx. The PME-5(?) worked well. It had a meter - you just had to remember to set the ISO & widest f-stop for the lens. It then gave you the EV.
