I'm looking forward to a new M...that means the M240 will start dropping into my price range :)

For me waiting is always a tough decision. If I wait then is missing moments now worth the $$ saved later? If current moments are adequately captured by my existing setup then do I really need the next cam?

BTW, I did wait for M240 while M9 was covering me. Sometimes it is just GAS. :)

And Canon just announces a new full-frame 35mm camera that sees in the dark with ISO 4,000,000. Its video only for now, but who knows.

With a whopping 2.25 MP and 10 bits per pixel this camera is obviously not designed to be used for the kind of photography an M owner would be interested in.

To me it is. I don't have the cash to not be that way :)

I love my R-D1x and I think it will be fine for a year or two while I pay down my visa and it will make a fine back up camera for the 240 when it finally gets purchased.

Glad you're still liking the Epson Bob, didn't know you were a member here too!

I know that this is going to go against the Leica mainstream but I'm looking forward to the LCD live view. I shoot a fair amount under .7m and this will be a godsend to me.

It will make the rangefinder my "do all" camera.

I'm a noob :)

I toyed with the idea of an M8.2 but decided against it...I think it was just G.A.S. :) so yes...still liking the Epson.

My first Leica was an M8 and it still is an outstanding camera. If you change your mind the camera won't lose much more value.

I know, but when I weighed the output of the M8.2 against my R-D1x it didn't surpass it in my opinion. It was too much of a "wash" and not a step up for me.

One of the main positives was a 10mb file size vs a 6mb file size and I've found that using Alien Skin Blow up 3 makes that a moot point. I've blown the 6mb files of the R-D1 up 170% and they printed beautifully and looked great on screen. I'd be hard pressed to tell that anything was enlarged. (and I'm a pixel peeper for sure)

Let's hope they get it right this time :)

If it's bigger than a M6, I'm not interested.

It has to be thicker.

There has to be 27.8mm from the lens mount to the sensor/film

In the M6 all it had behind that was a pressure plate and the back of the body.

The digital models have a sensor (thicker than film) plus an LCD (again, thicker than the film equivalent) plus whatever support mechanism holds the sensor and LCD in place.

If it's thicker, not buying.  The M246 is already too thick.  That is why I am loving the T as a second camera.  Fits nice in the hands and I don't get tired carrying it around.  Maybe if they can thin down the grip side, I might be a buyer.  Hoping.

I was referring to the M6 that uhoh7 posted abkut - the new M will still be thicker than the M6 - should be the same size as the current M240

The M240 grew a bit thicker than the M9 - but im willing to bet that its all in the thumb bump - the the rest of the body didnt get any thicker.

It was heavier, too.
