jrh68uk Posted March 30, 2015 Share #121 Posted March 30, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Rick, I commented on one of your FB posts, in the Typ240 group, of the same topic (didn't realise this was you initially). I'm glad it's all sorted and credit to Leica (Wetzlar and store) for putting things right. When I first had my Typ240 I finally realised that it exposed problems with two of my lenses (50 'cron and 35 'cron ASPH) that I had been "working around" with my M9. A subsequent 50 'lux ASPH purchase had me suspecting both camera and all three lenses together and so I soon arranged to send them all in. It turned out that the camera was essentially fine to begin with but that each lens needed some work. Now, they are all as good as I could hope without driving myself insane When I think about the mechanics of it, I'm astounded at how I can get focus spot-on, every time, using the 50 'lux wide open. It's not 100% perfect because it doesn't *quite* allow very distant objects to achieve RF co-incidence (actual image infinity focus is fine) but there's no way I'm going to risk messing it up now for the sake of that. When everything's aligned it's a dream system to use; I'm just sorry you hadn't sent your whole kit off sooner.

earleygallery Posted March 30, 2015 Share #122 Posted March 30, 2015 Within Leica there are probably many who wish you had never been a customer. Absolutely! How dare someone complain that their £13K Camera/lens combo won't focus properly, what do they expect huh! If you want a camera that can focus properly buy a Nikon or Canon! Leica is boutique and these little quirks are part of the charm, a 'signature' if you will. People know you have used a Leica because your shots are always blurry. C'mon Pico, what's your beef? Exodies Posted March 30, 2015 Share #123 Posted March 30, 2015 I don't know what Pico's beef is but I found this thread had a really vile smell about it. I kept wondering why the OP was telling us all this miserable stuff; we don't repair cameras.
pico Posted March 30, 2015 Share #124 Posted March 30, 2015 Rick, I commented on one of your FB posts, in the Typ240 group, of the same topic (didn't realise this was you initially). Has Rick posted his complaints in other places besides here and FB? Seems like a campaign to me.
jaapv Posted March 30, 2015 Share #125 Posted March 30, 2015 Within Leica there are probably many who wish you had never been a customer. How long will it be before you complain again that a lens is 2% out of focus? I think that is rather unfair, Pico. We can say many negatives about Leica, but if there is one company that attempts to cater to customer's needs it is them. Here something clearly went wrong, but quote me one other company where the majority shareholder will involve himself in an individual customer's problems. Exodies Posted March 31, 2015 Share #126 Posted March 31, 2015 It's like an arms race. What happened to the old method of paying for preferential treatment?
lct Posted March 31, 2015 Share #127 Posted March 31, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Less expensive to go on social media (/diums?) or internet forums (/ra?). Hence the feeling we can have to be instrumentalised sort of but that's the way it goes i guess...
