Louis - Thank you. Not only does the sensor have 4 times the area of the previous one (which correctly implied improvements you've noted, as well as better low light performance), but many other advantages as well, such as an easy to use manual focus with two focusing aids - magnified center and focus peaking, vs. the previous camera with virtually useless manual focus. Auto focus is faster, you can display a geo sensor artificial horizon, much better viewfinder in all ways, and other improvements as well. Even though the lens "only" goes to 400 mm (vs. 600 in the previous one), they have a rather clever "smart" electronic zoom to 600, though I cannot find a description of how it works - It does not seem to degrade the files.

 

Brent - Thank you. You'd expect that, but there is no smoking permitted in the protected forest and wetlands, and iguanas are sticklers for following the rules.
