80_20 Posted January 25, 2015 Share #21 Posted January 25, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Easy question, easy answer My consideration would be: - having only one lense for the rest of my life, it should be fast -> f 1.4 or f 0.95 - on the other hand it should be easy to carry -> not f 0.95 - it has to compromise landscape as well as portrait -> 35 or 50 mm -> intermediate result: Summilux 35 or Summilux 50 BUT knowing it will not remain the only lense: - it should allow to argue for a wider lense, e.g. 28 mm -> my winner would be the Summilux 50 Klaus

TomB_tx Posted January 25, 2015 Share #23 Posted January 25, 2015 My M4 and v3 50 Summicron that I've used since 1969. My most used combination for decades. (But might swap the M4 for my M9 to avoid film costs.)

bobbywise Posted January 25, 2015 Share #25 Posted January 25, 2015 I don't have a fortune to loose. It's a tough question in a way (for me anyway), because I use both 35 mm and 50 mm a lot. At the end of last year I went to London with my family, and tried getting some environmental shots with the Fuji X-T1 and 27 mm pancake (40 mm equivalent) -- I found it a bit long at times, and felt that wider would have been more useful. So based on this recent experience, I'd have to say I would keep only the 35 mm APSH FLE. If you were to extend the question to an M camera body, then I'd have to keep the Monochrom. LeicaPassion Posted January 25, 2015 Share #28 Posted January 25, 2015 I've already lost my modest fortune to Leica. 50 APO on the MM.
IkarusJohn Posted January 25, 2015 Share #29 Posted January 25, 2015 As we're talking hypothetically, the only issue would be image quality for me. Practically, 35 Summilux FLE. But that's not talking with my heart. The quandary for me is I like long(ish) and wide, so that would suggest 75 Summilux AND 21 Summilux. Okay burning house and I can grab one lens - Noctilux 0.95. My most used focal length, and a lens of wonderful character (75 Summilux following closely). Oh, and Monochrom.
Paul J Posted January 25, 2015 Share #30 Posted January 25, 2015 I mostly use one lens anyway so it's an easy answer, Noctilux.
pop Posted January 25, 2015 Share #31 Posted January 25, 2015 Had I lost yet another fortune, the M camera and its last remaining lenses were the first that had to go. I could make do with a Sony NEX and a CL.

gpwhite Posted January 25, 2015 Share #33 Posted January 25, 2015 I shoot the most frames with my Elmarit 24 ASPH, but more prints come from the AA 50. I would vote AA 50, and then forever feel sadness about the 24.

semi-ambivalent Posted January 26, 2015 Share #37 Posted January 26, 2015 Only one lens? Certainly something with f/1.4. But my reality is not one lens, and I sit at f/2. Cameras seem to work fine anyway. s-a
