Apologies for my senile mistakes. Just to make sure exactly what I have, I have re-read the instruction manual  AND got a magnifier to read the physical label on the camera to confirm it is a LEICA C (TYPE 112) serial 4762453.

Wrists duly slapped and hopefully my personal brain cells have been adjusted accordingly for future reference.

I am always grateful for corrections.

Richard

Richard,

No apology necessary and no wrist-slapping whatsoever!  I only mentioned it to try and avoid someone reading the thread, being mesmerised by your pictures and rushing out and buying a C-Lux instead of a C112, which they end up being disappointed with. :(

Pete.

How is the EVF on the C? I'm looking for a pocketable point-and-shoot as a backup for my CL. Requirements include easy carriage in a front pants pocket, good low-light performance, and a usable EVF. I'm looking at the Sony RX100 series as it seems to fit the bill, but I would also kind of like to just stay within the Leica ecosystem. I've owned several more capable (in terms of specs)  pocket cameras recently, such as the Fujifilm X70 and XF10, and while I was able to get good results from both, in the end I just hate composing a shot via the LCD screen. If I can't put a camera up to my eye and shoot, well, it just doesn't feel like a real camera to me. Thoughts?

The C is a small but great camera and I use it almost every day. I love that it is so tiny and fits in my pockets. Can't say that about the Leica X oder my Lumix G3. The pictures I take with the C are great. I can't complain. Ever the EVF is good enough (not brillant).

Anyway, it's my best camera. Love it.

Sometimes I get pictures from the C, and it's hard to believe this is an almost 10-year-old point-and-shoot camera with a tiny 1/1.7" sensor.  I love that it fits in my pocket and is about the size of a pack of cards or cigarettes.  The EVF is small and low-res, but still totally usable, and in fact the only way I ever use the camera.  Maybe it has been technically surpassed by smartphones, but at least it feels like a real camera.  Snapped this tonight after dinner.
