Thank you for the comments everyone. I must say that when I use only my V-Lux I it has been set to RAW + Jpeg from the start, but strangely it has just not occurred to me with my C. I'll change that now.

Also I use Photoshop rather than Lightroom, but that should not affect anything. I do most editing on my 12 year old Dell desktop because that has a large screen, but when I got my C it came with LR 5 so I loaded that on my MACBook but have never really experimented with it. Obviously simpler with the devil I know. Maybe I should make that a winter project to get to grips with LR especially as I can now link my laptop to the larger screen. Oh how useful it would be to be able to sit with someone and work out a sensible workflow. I am guessing that you guys prefer LR to PS for whatever reasons.

Certainly not criticising the Master, Keith, but your latest image (above) seems to suffer from exactly what I am trying to solve. It is the buildings which seem flat lacking the vibrance which I would expect from a sunny situation like the rest of the image. Maybe it is time for me to re-calibrate my screen, but other images look fine.

What do you guys recommend as being the best way to learn Lightroom?

When I got PS CS5 several years ago I bought Martin Evening's excellent book, but found that was so thorough that I got lost in the detail. Then anyway Adobe would not let me transfer my CS5 from PC to Mac without expensive upgrade or web based systems. Frankly, I am a light user of all these systems but do need to master the basics. There are several quite good YouTube videos out there but others are clearly not "teachers" and go fast making assumptions about previous knowledge.

I don't use LR but to become familiar with PS I thoroughly recommend Scott Kelby's 7-Point System because it leads you through processing his photos step by step so they're processed like he does and you can see the results emerging, understand why they do, and then alter them to suit how you want your pictures to look.

The problem I found with most PS how-to-do-it books is that they just tell you what the tools are but not how to use them to obtain a particular effect.

Pete.

Brilliant colours and sharpness..........but we have come to expect that from the little C!

For others who may have noticed my posts elsewhere about getting my R6.2 I still have and love my C. The two cameras are for completely separate activities.
