andybarton Posted October 18, 2015 Author Share #221 Posted October 18, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) As is always the case with the Challenge, it's the local knowledge and the help offered by friends in setting up the dinner that makes the difference. I couldn't have done this without Carsten's help, for which I am very grateful. Will need help next year too, but will cross that bridge when we get there. photolotse Posted October 18, 2015 Share #223 Posted October 18, 2015 Thanks Andy for organizing the One Challenge 2015 in Vienna, it has been great again. Moreover it has been a pleasure for me to give a little assistance this year. We all have enjoyed the Vienna One Challenge in Austria and are looking forward to 2016. However, I have to learn some basic words in a new language I never ever have spoken yet to get prepared for the 2016 Challenge in ... Everybody have a safe trip home, Carsten & Dagmar
andybarton Posted October 18, 2015 Author Share #224 Posted October 18, 2015 Just a tip or two for those using the airport to get home. Which will be most! 1. All of the shops that try to sell you watches and expensive handbags and new suitcases are all before you get to passport control. Once you pass through there, shopping is limited and seating almost non-existent. 2. Security seems to be at an individual gate level. We are here 90 minutes before our gate closes, and we cannot go through security as there is a Toronto flight using it at the moment. And I don't want to go there today. 3. This means that in order to get a seat for 90 minutes, we have to buy some coffee. Which is OK, I suppose. 4. Incoming passengers and outgoing ones have to pass through the same concourse. So it is complete mayhem and must be some sort of security issue. 5. The taxi only took 15 minutes this am.

StS Posted October 18, 2015 Share #227 Posted October 18, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Also my best thanks to Andy and Carsten for the organisation and to everyone else for joinig. Vienna is certainly worth a second visit. For Terminal 3, newspapers, books and restaurants are behind security. Seating is limited as well, though. Have safe travels everyone Stefan

Dan Bachmann Posted October 18, 2015 Share #233 Posted October 18, 2015 We are also lucky and sailed through the airport and are now relaxing before take-off. Thank you to Andy & Carsten for the planning and thank you to everyone else for making the trip worthwhile though John/Erl was missed very much. andybarton Posted October 18, 2015 Author Share #234 Posted October 18, 2015 We had no problem at the airport, but I was just advising that security was at the gate and we had to wait behind the Toronto flight. Have just arrived home. It took 15 minutes to get from touch down at Heathrow to the bus stop, then 40 minutes wait for the bus back to the car No problem on motorways apart from listening to the travesty that was the Scotland/Australia match... rickp13 Posted October 21, 2015 Share #238 Posted October 21, 2015 we're home safe, looking at vienna photos (and the new SL information), and thinking good thoughts about this year's challenge in vienna. many thanks to andy for his unfailingly good organization, and to dagmar and carsten for arranging the great meeting venue and delicious buffet meal at the esterhazy keller. we're also looking forward to next year (not so sure about using ryanair from hamburg ). early thinking, but wouldn't it be nice to stay in 1-2 central hotels instead of scattered across town? greetings from hamburg rick & karen
lanetomlane Posted October 21, 2015 Share #239 Posted October 21, 2015 A belated thanks to Andy and Carsten for arranging what was once again a most enjoyable event. Eileen and I really enjoyed catching up with everyone and now look forward to Lisbon. We had a good trip home (except for the delay at the Austria/German border) and actually managed to catch an earlier ferry than we had intended. Kind regards to all. satijntje Posted October 21, 2015 Share #240 Posted October 21, 2015 Also from me 1000x thanks to Andy and Carsten for organizing the event. We left Vienna today (Wednesday) Vienna airport was relatively empty, and we could pass security checks in 5 minutes! Now the difficult part comes, choosing the best image out of the 36! KG and see you next year in ..... John
