Advertisement Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Rumor: Leica to Announce Digital Rangefinder Without an LCD Screen at Photokina. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robert_parker Posted August 23, 2014 Share #42 Posted August 23, 2014 X-series? I have to say as the owner of an X2, which I very much enjoy using, I'd still love to see a true digital Barnack camera...
pico Posted August 23, 2014 Share #43 Posted August 23, 2014 I probably buy it even if it a failure. I will place it on the passenger seat of my Ford Edsel.

digitalfx Posted August 23, 2014 Share #45 Posted August 23, 2014 It's worth noting that the GoPro, a very popular digital (video) camera, also doesn't have a screen (in fact it doesn't even have a viewfinder). Its also a camera that you don't focus and has an extremely wide field of view...it doesn't need a viewfinder.
FrozenInTime Posted August 23, 2014 Share #46 Posted August 23, 2014 I probably buy it even if it a failure. I remember passing on a used R6-2 and 50/1.4 inorder to buy a 0-series replica. That's a camera most think to be a failure; but I love the little thing. These days I'm more likely to carry it along than any film SLR.
kdriceman Posted August 23, 2014 Share #47 Posted August 23, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) It will also have a film advance lever and a rewind knob, but only if seen from the back, and the new connector for the EVF will look like a flash cable socket. And you have to open the back door of the camera to insert an SD card.
horosu Posted August 23, 2014 Share #48 Posted August 23, 2014 As this thread shows, there are plenty Leica users who find this idea total nonsense. However, for me, personally, it would make an awful lot of sense. And I have a feeling there are quite a few who would welcome it.
TomB_tx Posted August 23, 2014 Share #49 Posted August 23, 2014 And I have a feeling there are quite a few who would welcome it. I would consider it, if done well. I almost never use the M9 LCD except for changing ISO, which could easily be set with an M6 style dial. I disabled the LCD on my A7. Making the camera thinner would be great, as I still prefer the feel of a IIIf body.
MarkP Posted August 23, 2014 Share #50 Posted August 23, 2014 as I still prefer the feel of a IIIf body. It won't be that small.
nicolaz Posted August 23, 2014 Share #51 Posted August 23, 2014 If there is a real market out there, the new old school M could be: - cosmetically the same as the M7 with the same ISO selector (with auto, 1/2 1/4 of the lens length) with EV adjustment - the knob for rewind the film could be the lens selector and a small LCD as the one on the M8 (this time close to the shutter) could tell which lens is selected. - then you wouldn't need an LCD if you had a nice EVF.. at the end, what you see it's almost what you get I wouldn't actually mind something like that.. keithlaban.co.uk Posted August 23, 2014 Share #54 Posted August 23, 2014 Why remove the screen? Cheaper to wear a blindfold.
lct Posted August 23, 2014 Share #55 Posted August 23, 2014 Give me a flip-out screen please. Epson did it 10 years ago. Welcome, dear visitor! zlatkob Posted August 23, 2014 Share #56 Posted August 23, 2014 What people say they want and what they'll actually buy doesn't always match. More than a few said they prefer the look of CCD sensors and could strongly describe their reasons for that preference, but then bought the non-CCD M240 as quickly as they could. colonel Posted August 23, 2014 Share #57 Posted August 23, 2014 Give me a flip-out screen please. Epson did it 10 years ago. hate flip out screens for their extra girth and fragility. I like the solidity of a fixed screen
pico Posted August 23, 2014 Share #58 Posted August 23, 2014 I heard a rumour about a month ago that the lcd is going to be replaced by a very large screw. Close. Leica will have two options for the big screw: outtie and innie.
Mike Rawcs Posted August 23, 2014 Share #59 Posted August 23, 2014 A lot of people said it would be madness to produce a camera that only took b&w photographs.
lct Posted August 23, 2014 Share #60 Posted August 23, 2014 hate flip out screens for their extra girth and fragility. I like the solidity of a fixed screen Mine works fine after 9 years of use i must say. Great to be able to hide the screen when i don't want to be disturbed. I miss the R-D1 flip-out screen on all my other digital cameras and would be more than happy to get one on the next M. I don't hold my breath though. Some great ideas like this screen or Epson's analog controls are probably out of date in this touch-screen civilization. Welcome, dear visitor!
