Who ordered?

Logic rarely features in the decisions to buy a new model like the T after reading some reports in this thread. So I am one of the few exceptions who has ruled it out for the time being.

My full-frame needs are more than adequately met with a balanced set of prime lenses. My X1 and X Vario cope very well with compact and live-view needs. I simply do not need another 'system' camera without dislodging the system I already have and enjoy using. Hence I am not rushing to order anything at this time. I think I am one photographer who Leica was not aiming to convert.

It would be my position too, were it not that I have been looking for a minimalistic M backup/R replacement for my heavy DMR for travelling purposes for years. I even asked Stefan Daniel about it about a year ago, but he gave nothing away.:D. I won’t even be buying a T mount lens with it. If I want to use the camera on its own, I’ll probably use the Summicron-C.

Ditto. I was also thinking that my 40 Summicron-C might be very nice on the T.

I mounted my 40 Summicron C on a T that a Leica factory rep brought to our local camera store this past weekend. It looked perfect on it and focusing via both screen and viewfinder was quick. This was a vital test to have the T pass for me to continue considering purchase. The 90 Elmar C, 50 Summarit, and 135 Elmarit also focused easily.

I purchased the black T from Adorama and went with the kit lens. Getting rid of all my Sony stuff. Any company that is losing money will think twice about their commitment to digital photography, a crowded field. I went with Adorama for a simple reason, my card is not charged until the item ships, I wanted to go to a smaller dealer but they wanted to charge my card immediately.

I have not ordered yet. Will wait 6 months before deciding to order Leica T ( in black )

Hoping in future there will be 28mm prime lens for the Leica T. If not the Summicron T 23mm f/2 would be my choice instead of zoom lenses.

Are U.S. dealers shipping to customers on May 26th or will we be delayed in US?

Probably depends where you ordered from? But since the 26th is a holiday I'd imagine nothing will ship until the 27th. This is a guess. But it seems a safe bet to not expect anything to ship on Memorial Day....

That's an odd reason to sell out of a camera system. A large part of Sony's past year loss was due to restructuring costs after they sold off their PC business. Sony's camera division is profitable and will continue to grow given that they are the only imaging company developing innovative products that sell on mass, for both stills photographers as well as the video crowd. They're also supplying sensors to the major manufacturers for use in point and shoots up to medium format. Their current range of products, like the RX100, A6000 and A7 series, are selling like hotcakes.

If anything, I would be more concerned with the future of the T system. I was talking to my local dealer recently and he doesn't sound very optimistic. He's a Leica A level dealer and has not received a single deposit on a pre-order for a T.

Sounds like he needs to start marketing...I know several dealers that have long lists.

True. If one casts one's net that wide there is plenty of choice. :) If we would list them all there would be quite a bit of bandwidth involved.

Still, the original question was:

I have not been able to find a link for online ordering...HELP!

Weakly profitable.

The results for the year 2013/14 are poor: see slide 17

Sony Global - FY13 Consolidated Financial Results

with a ratio operating income/sales = 3.55 %
