Michael Hiles Posted January 6, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just been given some Kodak Polycontrast paper. It is not too ancient and has apparently been well stored in a freezer etc etc. I have been using Ilford Multigrade since forever. The Question - will this paper react appropriately to Ilford's multigrade filters? If No - I will head for the bin. If Yes, I am in luck. Thanks. pico Posted January 6, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2014 You can use Ilford filters with Kodak paper, and opposite.
Guest Mr. B Posted February 5, 2014 Share #3 Posted February 5, 2014 Both kodak and ilford filters will work on either paper. I have a set from both companies. Over time they do fade slightly and need to be replaced. Kodak stopped black and white paper production at the end of 2005. If the paper has been frozen it should be okay, but I have no experience with paper that has been frozen for nine years or more. I would be curious as to your results. Michael Hiles Posted February 5, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted February 5, 2014 Thanks Mr. B My Ilford filters look pretty good, and they have been stored in their box. And happily they are replaceable. When I get around to using the Kodak paper I will report back. I used Kodabromide before the beginning of time and I did not like it at all. But in those days I didn't know whether it was Tuesday or the Kentucky Derby. Probably not the fault of the paper.
