dennersten Posted December 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) The plastic EVF and hotshoe protection thing feels quite important. I haven't lost yet. But i think it's just a matter of time.. I tried ebay and google but found nothing. Are there any replacements out there? I Couldn't find it at Leicas site either. Advertisement Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Hi dennersten, Take a look here EVF protection. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
algrove Posted December 22, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 22, 2013 Take it off and leave it at home. Then buy an EVF to use on it when out.
lct Posted December 22, 2013 Share #3 Posted December 22, 2013 I lost mine already, unless it i still in the box, but i have always a Thumbs Up or an EVF in the hotshoe. Anyway to answer your question it is the spare part # 14644 if i'm not wrong. Edit: http://tllg.net/Leica14644
farnz Posted December 23, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 23, 2013 Mine's been sitting in the box until I went out shooting last night when it was very wet and windy off and on. Leica advise that it's part of the weather resilience so mine will stay on now unless I'm using the EVF. Can't hurt. Pete.
Bill W Posted December 23, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 23, 2013 If you lose it I would tape over the EVF slot for protection or use an EVF all the time. I am not a Thumbsup user.

I mean, $59 for that......or £30 in the UK. No doubt there is some glib explanation about supply, demand, production location and volumes, and logistics, to justify it. Dick Turpin rides again. The tiny little plastic PC socket protecting plug for the R8/9 (and I think the same one for some of the Ms) came in at an eye watering five or six pounds. I always used to think of it as a Leica Owners' Tax (that is to say, a LOT).
jcraf Posted December 26, 2013 Share #9 Posted December 26, 2013 Apparently Leica has quite a sense of humor. In so many ways. Joke a minute. I haven't stopped laughing since my brand new M Monochrom packed up after 4 days. I am chuckling even now as I type this.......you boys and girls in Solms, you're SO naughty! Seriously though, we still love 'em don't we?
