Does anyone ever dust their box? If so, how? Dedicated microfiber cloth? I have to do this myself. I cannot ask my wife, daughter or the housekeeper to do it because they just do not understand the box. Any input would be helpful.

I was following an online auction for a box that was attracting many bids but the pictures were a bit fuzzy and indistinct and the box's colour looked different to other M boxes but that could be down to white balance. I think it had "Leika" written on the side but it's hard to be sure and it appeared to have three shelves. The pictures didn't show the box's serial number and the shape of the box seemed unusual. I looked on the WestLight website but couldn't see any that looked like this one so could this be a box copy?

I'm actually interested in an a la carte box covered in Hermes leather - does anyone know where I might find one of these please?

Pete.

I was told by a box dealer in the Burlington Arcade that it will not be possible to get ahold of any of the a la carte boxes in time for Christmas. Fortunately immediately after Christmas is boxing day; however, they will only be taking pre-orders at that time.

Rumour has it that unauthorized dealers will be selling the boxes in parts before the official release so you can buy just a box top if you wish.

<Gasp!> Card that's annointed by Leica, I think you'll find! ("only a bit of card"… my goodness.)

Pete.

OK, Pete. I am suitably chastened. It is card that has been silvered and labelled , whilst passing through the hallowed halls of Solms, and for all I know, been baptised, canonised and sanctified at the Wetzlar Dom.

I will say three dozen 'Hail Noctilux's' and ban myself from using my 35 FLE until I go out on Sunday.

Hello,

I am new to Leica and some weeks ago the uncle of my neighbour's sister died - and he had this box. My neighbour's sister says he had all the Leica things in this box and I heard they pay such a lot of money for Leica stuff.

As you know so much in this Forum, can anybody please tell me more about the value of this box? Would you recommend to sell it on ebay or are their other places to get better prices for it? I attached a photo, so that you can see and give me some hints about how much I could charge you:

Sorry, Forum rules prohibit our giving valuations.

Uli,

That's definitely a vintage box and judging by the internal foam quite an exciting one too. According to Jim l'Ager and Erwin Buts only a very few boxes had this foam and even fewer had the foam AND the tape so it looks like you have a rare box. The cereal number is all-important because it will indicate whether its original use was for Sugar Puffs, Crunchy Nut or Weetabix products (if it was Crunchy Nut then you're likely to get a healthy return!). If you can post a picture showing the cereal number then we may be able to help more. This is definitely a collectors' item so I recommend not using it to dispose of the remainder of last night's curry because it will lose its value rapidly.

To help with it's provenance do you know where your neighbour's sister's uncle's second cousin's hairdresser's aunty got the box from by any chance?

Pete.

It's a long one, so I think it will help getting a good price.
