Another set of images from the A7r with legacy glass. Unfortunately from my scientific nit-picking / standardisation & replication point of view its not possible to cross compare with confidence, as in many cases the subjects don't really lend themselves to determining corner and edge performance. The Voigt 12 and Zeiss ZM 18 are not pretty, and the 35 Cron seems questionable, but as I say, it is really hard to judge on the basis of this material.

Thank you very much. Too bad for the Summicron 35 asph but the CV 35/1.4 looks much better so there is some hope for the Summilux 35/1.4 pre-asph which doesn't vignette much on the M240. This alone could persuade me to purchase the A7R perhaps but the shutter noise remains an issue...

Not very big pics but I only see vignetting on the 35 cron? Which happens, and is adjusted for on the M240. Isn't it just a lightroom correction away? Or do you see other IQ issues?

From online samples I have seen, the M240 produces more color shift with the ZM 18 and CV 12 without lens profiles. Impossible to tell about smearing though. So far so good but nothing to get too excited about.

Frankly, I am tiring of looking at someone else's jpegs and look forward to the day when I can analyze my own images taken with various Leica glass on an a7r. Only then will I have an answers to my questions.

We all know what lenses we want to try on an a7r/a7 which in my mind are only limited by the number of lens adapters currently existing for use with E mount cameras and by the lenses we all currently own.

Interesting findings on the WATE... Hum... But me, as owner of a 21 2,8 asph and a cv 15 have little doubt about the alternative of buying a wate and buying a A7r or buying a M240 and enjoy my glass.

I too have those lenses, and the ideal would be a camera that can use them, although the 15 gets used rarely and I wouldn't mind swopping the Elmarit asph for one of the new slower lenses, 21 or 24, if they worked better.

I cant see myself ever affording to buy an M240 or a WATE, never mind their running costs when they go wrong. That assuming Leica gets the M240 running properly (firmware upgrades to come?), and actually delivers them.

Maybe the A7R will be part of a well thought out system eventually, although their record with the Nex series doesn't inspire confidence, with a few good lenses and some absolute dogs. The Fuji X series looks better thought out.

Otherwise there are DSLRs of course but they are mostly so big, and heavy, and don't do really good wideangles either unless they are huge and heavy. That option was always there with film too, we could take a Hasselblad out, but its hardly the spirit of Leica and 35mm photography in general.

Oh sorry, I did'nt see it.

I just came from the german forum for to show it here.

But in Germany we say "Doppelt genäht hält besser!"

This is similar to: "Two are better than one!"

No problem. By the way, your English is much better than my German. :D

Hi luigi,

Enjoy your glass.

When will you get an M?

I'll keep my M9 and get the 7R.

BTW, I wouldn't want to be without the WATE.

So far, it seems to work pretty well on M9, NEX-5N, NEX-7, OM-D E-M5, and OM-D E-M1.

Hopefully it won't be too terrible on the 7R as indicated by some encouraging preliminary images. ;)

I should be able to compare the WATE's performance on M9 and 7R by early December,

provided Sony doesn't miss the delivery date by too much. :D

Hallo Kalle,

Vielen Dank. "Doppelt gemoppelt hält besser!" würde auch passen. :D

Hi luigi,

Enjoy your glass.

When will you get an M?

THAT'S THE QUESTION... :p

Most probable answer :

" the day I haven't to wait too long for it" or better again "the day I can enter in a shop and see one, ready to be handled, paid, and carried away"... I don't like to buy differently (preorder, waiting list, deposit... bleah...) : so was with my M8 ( I asked the dealer, "when you'll have one, chrome ?" He said "2 months, I think", and 2 months after "have you got it ?" - "yes" - "Let me see... Ok, that's for me") : I hope the same for M

I like that. Since I went to buy my M9 from the shop and they had only 2 bodies in stock. The first body I bought had a faulty viewfinder display, so I returned it and got the second body, which fortunately was ok. I have decided eversince that I will only buy a Leica camera at a local shop, and they should have at least 2 bodies available.
