Is this a double exposure? What ever, I like the haziness of a second layer of washed out flowers and shore line. It really works out splendid.

Hasselblad H1, Carl Zeiss Planar 3,5/100, Kodak Gold 200.  JPeg down-sized from the 52MPixel scan.  Nice to see the occasional image from this charming lens.

Yes, hand-held double exposure, which is easy with the Rolleiflex, and not so easy with Leica M, although I've never tried it. It worked out, as you say, with that shoreline and doubled up with the flowers. The faint fog helped, too.  Cheers, Rog

Some more poppies, and some more Portra 400 for Doc Henry. I call these "Vincent's Poppies" as they are pictured at the former monastery Saint-Paul-de-Mausole in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France where Van Gogh admitted himself for a 12-month confinement and rest during 1889. There are also some of "his" Irises in the background. During his "rest" here he still managed to complete 150+ paintings. The place itself is still a working hospital/asylum and is a wonderfully quiet and dignified place to visit.

Applause! What resilience with the walls of the monastery standing to witness the ongoing seasons of poppies and iris. I cannot look at Van Gogh's paintings here without thinking of your own work of art now, Phil. Assuredly, you have some more Van Gogh/Doc Henry poppy shots? The renown California impressionist, Granville Redmond, was famous for his poppy  and lupine landscapes, and even exhibited at a gallery here in Long Beach.

Thank you so much Rog, and thank you too for the heads up on Granville Redmond. What a beautiful sense of composition and colour he had! Did you visit the exhibition in Long Beach? I’d imagine the walls would have been bursting with colour. At St Remy, even standing (as you can) where Van Gogh stood or sat to make some of his paintings, or looking out of the window from where he looked when he painted “Starry Starry Night”, you cannot help but be humbly in awe of the great and unique gift that someone of his talent has or had in being able to translate what was in front of him to something that resonates so deeply with so many people for so many reasons over - well, it would be safe to say for all time.

On an entirely different level, yes, there are more poppy (oops I had to correct that from “poopy”) shots to come - it was a magnificent time for poppies during our travels. I just have to get some more negatives back from the lab in Spain.

Redmond exhibited at the Harry Lindner Gallery, Long Beach, in 1930, passed away 1935. He was very successful from the early 1900s, until his end, and held numerous gallery showings and one-man exhibits in Southern California, San Francisco, Catalina, Laguna Beach, and Monterey. Interestingly, he was deaf and did a lot of acting in motion pictures, even appearing in Chaplin's City Lights. I am looking forward to more poppies and the like (iris). Cheers, Rog
