Kl@usW. Posted September 10, 2021 Share #77365  Posted September 10, 2021 (edited)  Summertime #2  Thank you for asking:  It is said that sunflowers  like "to look at the sun". As did this one. But I turned the pot for the benefit of the photographer and fortunately the  sunflower wasn´t fast enough to react.... Welcome, dear visitor! philipus Posted September 10, 2021 Share #77366  Posted September 10, 2021 I really like this. It's like a still from Citizen Kane or something. Or is King Kong hiding behind there somewhere? I really like this inky blacks. On 9/9/2021 at 12:57 PM, mikemgb said: As above Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Mike, Ken and Klaus, thank you very much. It's very interesting to read your and everyone else's thoughts on photos here, not necessarily on my photos but on everyone's photos. It's really an, how shall I say, mind-broadening experience. Often I notice things I didn't see myself, and especially on my own photos, which I somehow think I should the best. That is very quickly proven not to be the case at all. One little thing about the lift photo is the T in the word LIFT. It looks like an arrow pointing up. There's possibly a bit of hope in that, as well as judgement. On 9/9/2021 at 9:40 PM, Wayne said: I have just got to comment on this one again. I keep coming back to it and starring at it:...."What the hell is so fascinating about this photograph of such a common thing?" I think it has so much to do with the fact that it is a color image. It seems to embody a lot of what Roger so often posts, but with no abstraction at all. I can't explain it, but it strikes me as an extraordinary example of Art. Wayne  23 hours ago, bags27 said: To me, it's both whimsical (eyes, nose, industrial humor) and simultaneously terrifying for its impersonal, cold nature.  21 hours ago, Kl@usW. said:  I agree with both of you. Philipus confronts us with an extraordinary, artful and  perfectly executed photograph--hence Waynes observation that this is an outstanding piece of art. In sneaks the knowledge for whom these doors opened and closed -- and since Philipus provided a legend we can't unknow,, Bags27  correctly states the terrifying qualities of the picture. Its all in our heads. Actually its just an elevator..... Thank you Philipus again for this Janus headed, ambiguous picture. Ohhh wow add a litre of vanilla ice cream and I'll be in heaven. Fantastic colour. 21 hours ago, Kl@usW. said: summertime #1 MP; SLX 50, Ektar 100 This is sublime Steve. Really well done. Whenever I see well executed photos on film of sunsets it strikes me how natural they look. I don't mean to knock digital at all, because each medium has its place and uses, but I rarely see that same touch of reality in digital photos. Even when the sun burns out to pure white there's a curve that gently slopes the light off to the sides smoothly. 21 hours ago, Ouroboros said: North Uist. I'm amazed at how much gradation there is in those dark parts actually. You're really handling that Mamiya well. 5 hours ago, bags27 said: Mamiya 7 80mm FP4 in Pyrocat HD, filters in camera and in post.  3

bags27 Posted September 11, 2021 Share #77372  Posted September 11, 2021 (edited) Back in May, I went to the Roger Williams Zoo for a Chinese Lantern exhibition. Waited until dusk, and used a Nikon FE so I wouldn't have to meter in the dark. 50 f/1.8 Portra 400 in Cinestill C-41. Here are a few examples from a really, really cool exhibition. chrism Posted September 11, 2021 Share #77378  Posted September 11, 2021 The Boy, on XP2 in Diafine: Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! There was a great deal of crap on these negatives, so I ran my Diafine solutions and fixer through coffee filters. The Diafine is about four years old but still working like new. Solution A left a good deal of black stuff on the filter, Solution B left nothing, and the fixer had a fair bit of white crystalline matter. I think the black stuff would be a red herring, as the film was agitated in Solution B, fixer and several changes of water afterwards. Maybe it was the fixer, or maybe the tank was just dusty after not being used for months.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
